My cabinet got nixed after my last grow got stinky so I had to resort to the attic. I knew my only chance was a winter grow because temps are way too hot in all other seasons here in Kansas. I found that my setup is much simpler in the cold. I have a 250watt HPS for light and a heat source. My vent fan is wired to an attic fan thermostat switch that I found at Cheap Homo for $15. The exhaust fan kicks on when the temps get to my dialed in setpoint and draw I the cold air to cool it down to about 10 degrees below my target temp. I did not even have to insulate it because the lights do such a great job as heaters! Right now temps are down to the teens and my temps are holding in the 70's. This is easier than when my cabinet was in the house because it was always a battle with the heat. I am growing lowryder 2 autoflowering so I just keep the lights on 24/0. When it starts to warm up it will be changed to 18/6 with lights out during the afternoon.
Just wanted to share my setup with anyone considering a winter attic grow.
