Here is my method to harvesting and curing:
When the plants are ready to be chopped, I cut off all the fan leaves that are easily accessible. I then cut the plant at the bottom and hang upside down and cut them into manageable segments ~12-15". Here I will cut off any fan leaves I missed before and hang them on a line to dry. After a few days when the buds feel dry (not crispy) I will take them down and manicure them saving the sugar leaves. I dry trim because trimming when wet is just too messy and cloggy and trimming when totally dry is too time consuming.
After manicuring I put the buds in mason jars and toss in a boveda pack (controls moisture to 62%).
From here I open the jars once a day for a few days and usually after about 3 days they're good to go. If the buds are still very wet after 3 days, continue burping the jars at least daily until the buds feel dry. Then burp once a week or so until you feel theyve normalized. I've never had mold and the buds get an excellent terpene profile it seems from sealing them up early on to bask in their own stench.
