My best sun hit the front yard so I'd like to build a very affordable tall fence quickly- Any advice tips etc greatly appreciated!
how tall and what purpose? does it need to block sight? meet city codes? what's the purpose of the fence? My best sun hit the front yard so I'd like to build a very affordable tall fence quickly- Any advice tips etc greatly appreciated!
got it.I just bought a house so no more Landlord crap but there is a 200' cedar tree in my back yard that only gives me full sun on half the yard until noon
I have an ad on CL for someone to take the tree down for furniture wood, but I think it's too much work involved so it's a long shot and my front yard sits happily in the sun all day, on a nice East-West path. I could get 20 trees growing nice but want to avoid sleeping in my front yard this Fall and what Hater's do here which is put up a big sign on their lawn My Neighbor grows Weed with an Arrow.. however, my one side neighbor is badly hiding their own one tree... it's kinda cute how badly... so not worried except they might want more than one come Fall...
I want a 6' Fence that at the very least someone passing (quiet neighborhood, no through traffic, foot traffic is rare) would have to stop and peer in long enough to confirm yes, the only house on the street with a tall front fence is indeed the one the fresh blooming cannabis is at. I don't supposed anyone has a way to stop that lol? I know it is just a deterrent, their will be adequate security.
I hope to build it myself? I can do short term, I honestly have a 5 year plan into a much better outdoor growing suitable residence and a 6 month plan out of poverty lol -I am hoping this summer's harvest will net me enough green paper to build a greenhouse among other things like get a huge tree chopped down -if I can ever get them into the ground (last year this time they were over my head!)got it.
that's going to be expensive to build, especially if you want it to last more than one season.
are you thinking long term here, or short term? and what kind of budget?
Thanks, didn't really think about that since no Homeowner's Assoc... let me check. If it's a front yard fence, it's got to be up to a certain code in most towns. A badly constructed front fence will get the city coming by due to bitching neighbors.
This is messed up, I'm running for City Council! I don't believe for one minute this isn't to keep me from having privacy, Fire my Ass???!I hope to build it myself? This is why I will live on county land when I buy my own place. This is messed up, I'm running for City Council! I don't believe for one minute this isn't to keep me from having privacy, Fire my Ass???!
How Tall Can A Fence Be?
Tall, solid fences built next to sidewalks cause neighborhoods to look walled-in, and this detracts from the appearance and quality of the community. Fences built too high can also create safety concerns. They may increase the chances for a fire to spread by making it more difficult for fire personnel to access a property in order to fight fires. Although a fence greater than 6 feet might add more privacy, it also provides criminals with more cover and can create an unsafe environment.
Fences, walls and hedges are generally limited to a height of six feet around back yards and a height of three feet in front yards. Exceptions may be made by the Planning Department and require the notification of adjoining property owners. For more information, refer to Chapter 17.14 of the Zoning Ordinance, Fence, Wall and Landscape Standards.
Dropping a 90 foot tree in sections is not something for the weekend lumberjack to attempt lightly.go rent a lift and a chain saw and cut down the tree. 200 bucks for the lift. and that tree looks around 70 - 90 feet. should be that hard to do or just take all the branchs off it for now tell next yr. cheaper then a fence or get a dof and a eletric fence. get a pack of dogs.
