Ebb and Gro versus Roots Soil

*** Before I start off, please only respond if you have something intelligent to say and/or have experience with what I am asking about. Also, I am not interested in a soil versus hydro argument.

Hi all,
So my last grow I had 3 soil plants in 3 gallon smart pots using roots organic potting soil and right next to it had 6 plants in an ebb and gro. Here is my dillemma. I got a respectable yield from the soil plants, 7 ounces from 3 plants (untrained). They finished quickly and had a good quality smoke. I got a terrible yield from my new Ebb and gro system. I got just over 6 ounces from 6 plants. I was using great nutrients, had 3 600 watt air cooled lights and my air temps and humidity were reasonable (80-85 degrees and 30-40 humid).
Now I know I got a bad yield from the hydro plants but that is because that particular strain got hit with a bad case of rust while the soil plants were effected less and later in life. So the hydro plants did not live up to their full potential. My question is this. I am a legal caregiver and my plant limit now is 9 plants. I am wondering if anyone has used the ebb and gro which utilizes 2 gallon grow pots, AND has grown in a soil/coco mix in 5 gallon smart pots and can give me an idea of what my yield would be like using 9 two gallon pots on an ebb and gro system, versus my yield using 9 5-gallon grow pots. I would be training the plants by topping/bending and they would be in the exact same environment either way.
Also, to throw you another curve ball, my reservoir temps are usually too high, in the 22-25 degree celcius range, and I did have problems time to time with brown algae on my last grow, presumably due to heat.
Sorry I know this is alot of info but I just want some advice on whether to persue the hydro, or sell the system and cut my losses and go with theRroots which I was pretty impressed with. I think I can get 4 oz per plant in 5 gallon soil if I train, and I'm just not confident I can get 4 oz per plant with the ebb and gro, especially with my res temp isssues. So does anyone have experience with the 2 gallon ebb and gro buckets? Also, I have done everything I can to remedy the heat issues short of buying a portable ac which is completely out of my budget right now. Thank you in advance!
