Sorry for the lame post, im newish to the growing game and I just purchased my first EC meter. I don't understand I thought it was ppm i did a little research and I get that its the same thing in a way. So my question is i just checked my water after it was declorinated and ph and the meter read "204 us" idk if thats good, bad, or what? The day i got it i checked a smaller plants run off and it gave me a number (that i now forgot) and said "ms" after not "us" whats that about?

So what can this damn thing tell me i feel like an idiot. I think i have nutrient lockout or a ph problem, i was told to get a ppm meter did i get the wrong shit? I thought they were the same....but different?

Tks for your time in advance

It's not a lame question.

Which meter do you have? I have a cheapo Vivosun that works fine, and it reads both ppms and EC.

I was told in most cases the cheap PPM /EC meters work fine. With PH meters you have to spend a few $$ to get a decent one though.

I just went through a very similar thing, with my 2nd coco grow. Is that what you're growing in also??

204 μS (microsiemens) is equivalent to .204 ms (millisiemens) I.e. 1 ms = 1000 μS
The meter is measuring conductivity, not ppm. PPM is a derived measure and only accurate if measuring NaCl (table salt).
Stick to EC when measuring nute concentrations.

why did you buy an ec meter for living soil? and why measure the runoff? how much runoff are you really supposed to have in living soil if any?
