Efficient light choice

I want to grow a single plant, partly just for fun, I am not that concerned with getting the most super-potent plant that ever grew, I just want something descent and simple to start. I have a greenhouse but my grandmother lives next door so I will have to switch to indoors once it is old enough to tell what it is. I have reptile light fixtures that I think will work just the same for grow lights but I am not sure what type of light is most efficient, both for the plant and my power bill. A little help please.

they are a pretty color, though. lol seriously, the spectrum is all wrong. go to local hardware store, get a few cfl's throw a desktop oscillating fan in with it(blow across the leaves to strengthen stem to hold up fat buds later!), keep light at safe but as-close-as-possible distance. stay away from Miracle Gro potting Soil, I used it, big mistake as others will justify. it's way too acidic, and bug-filled. any other potting soil w/ out nutes if possible so you can add your own. nio timed release anything in with your babies. put your lights on timers 24/on, of 18 on/6 off. look around here, read a few threads, and post pics, so we can see to better help you.

oh, and as soon as your seedling breaks the dirt surface, you can identify it for a pot plant, since the first two leaves are uaually the telltale pointy leaves of all pot plant pictures and references! so be careful...

your computer will run a higher bill than 1 or 2 bulbs run even 24 hrs. day. My 2, 4 foot flourescent fixtures that are (8th day) on a 12/12/ schedule, but for last 2 months were on an 18on/6off schedule runs me about $7 extra per month that includes a dehumidifier ih the room running constantly, and a box fan also on 24/7. so it ain't bad for 16 plants, eh? Unles you really have a serios grow room, it'll be so little the 'lectric co. won't even notice it. big Fish tanks use about the same amount.
