Electricity Problems with Attic grow (Tripping out, overload or faulty light?)

Hi,

I have 9 dutch cheese up in my attic been going now for 4 weeks under 2 600w hps. I was going to put them on 12/12 tonight and add another 600w hps light. Unfortunatley ever since i added the extra 600w light the fuse keeps tripping off (upstairs lights and attic). It will stay on for around 30min then flicks off, when i flick the switch it always comes back on, stays on for a while then goes off etc.

The attic orginally has a single socket up there which was a spur run off im guessing from a upstairs socket or light. I changed the single socket to a 3 gang socket so i would have to use as many extention leads and adapters etc. I have been using a 1kw contactor times with a extention coming off it to supply the light (i know 1kw is not enough for even 2 600w and i am buying a new 1 tomorrow although it has been working fine with just 2. Could the timer contactor be the reason the third light is tripping the fuse?

I the lights straight into a 4gang extention without the contactor in same thing happened.

Up there at the moment i only have 1 large office fan and the 2 lights, surely the 3rd light isnt overloading the system.

is it more likely there is a fault with the 3rd light itself?

Replys much appreciated as im sure that 3rd light would bang the yield right up.

Also have a query about my hesi coco nutrient schedult i got off their site but thats for another post

Whats your breaker rated at that keeps tripping? 15amp?20amp? Also, are you using 120V(us) or 240V(uk)? Those ballasts are pulling roughly AT LEAST 15 amps on their own, not including other factors, such as your having other lights/appliances in the house running off the same circuit. Remember, if a breaker trips, there is def. an issue at hand....

the problem is most likely you are overloading the circuit!
the two 600's probably was pushing it and now it is overmaxed.
I'm guessing it is the standard 15 amp breaker on that circuit.
You need a 30 amp if you are going to run the whole attic off that
line. Which means you will need to run a new electric line to the attic.

Your problem is your trying to run to many watts on a 15 amp breaker.
Your suppose to run at 80% which is 1440Watts for 15 amp breaker

im in uk so guessing 240v, not sure what amp it is how do i check i cant see anything printed on the fuse itself, do i turn it off and take it out.

will the 2 600w be ok, its a new house last thing i wanna do is burn it down!

is there any way i can fix this without setting up a new wire as im not upto doing that myself and i thing and electricain is out of the question!
