I'm on the other side of the fence. I prefer 1000W HPS for flowering because a 1000 has much better foliar penetration than smaller lamps.

I run a Sea of Green with 4'x4' flood trays in the flowering area. I have a pair of 1000s, each one covering two flood trays. In SoG, you flower the cuttings as soon as they set root. No vegging time at all. The result is a plant about 40" tall by week 8.

1000s will give good density buds all the way down the mainstem. No popcorn/fluffy buds low down on the stem. Trimming off the lower branches, all of those on the lower 1/3 of the plant, will go further to increasing avg bud size. See my img gallery for results.

Sanifsan, 12" pots are kinda big. You could get away with 8" pots and save some floorspace. The pots in my gallery are 8" dia x 8" tall. If you trim your excess lower branching, there will be plenty of airflow space between the plants and you might get a few more plants in.

if you want 1000's then get them, personally i use 600's because their lumen to watt ratio is the best but regardless you need to do some electric work, adding a circuit is easy as hell and its pretty much the only option
