Same as previous posters, but will add: Using digital timers is handy. Most have a battery back-up, so you wont need to reset them.

If you are running hydro that requires a airpump a battery backup supply used for a pc comes in handy. Just running the airpump 15 minutes an hour, or a water pump to feed a couple of times a day, will keep your plants alive and the backup should last at least of few days.

i am growing in soil, and was more concerned with the lights going out. how long could the girls be without light? would they hermie after a certain time without, then with light after power cut. for instance.. if power was out for 24hrs in flowering time, then power back up, to continue cycle what would happen? what if power out midway through 12hrs light? what happens if power out for 3 days? sorry to ask again.. maybe im worrying over an unfixable possible eventuality??

It's difficult to say. There isn't really a specific timeline of events. Will the plants hermie? Don't know, you'll find out. Just keep an eye out for signs of mold and treat accordingly.

If the power goes out for a day, it shouldn't be much of a problem. Just keep on goin' like nothing happened. If the power goes out for three days, you ought to have a generator backup.
If the hydro goes out while the lights are on: Unplug your lamps. Let them cool for at least a couple of hours. Firing up a warm lamp can damage it. Plug them in again after the power returns to prevent damage from power surges.

Fact is, there isn't much you can do in these situations except to be prepared for them with a backup source of power. Other than that, you just have to roll with the punches.

That help?

Don't know where you are at, but power outages around here are rare. Unless there's a major storm or something, they only lsat an hour or so tops

ok guys, thanks. i was just wondering and thought it might answer a big question for some people in their time of need. i presumed i would have to roll with it, im not anywhere near needing any back up generators..YET. and i also live in an area of rare power outs, but hey, this site has already provided me with answers to most eventualities, was stoned and ponderous.. thanks.
