well it looks like phil robertson has done it this time. He got kicked off his own show.

I for one did not find his comments surprising or that offensive. I mean the guy has a habit of speaking his mind...

Imo, this is one of the problems with america today. You cannot speak your mind without fear of reprisals, on a national scale even.

To me, if you don't like the guy, don't watch the show....simple really. I'm not saying I agree with his statements, what I am saying is I don't give a shit, and the comedic value of the show far outweighs any personal flaws some characters may have. I mean...aren't these traits precisely what makes this show so good?

Seems like the gay/lesbian community should move past fighting with the hardcore christians about whether they will go to heaven or not, and such..... You will never change these peoples minds.

I do believe same sex unions should be afforded all the legal benefits of a traditional marriage. To me if two people are happy...then good for them. It is not the job of our government to decide who we can or can't marry.

However, this knife cuts both ways.... With equal rights comes equal criticism. If people don't like the lifestyle and speak about it....

SO FUCKING WHAT???! You can't have it both ways.

so anyway back to the topic....will the show survive without the dynamic of phil/ si and miss kay?

It's manufactured. Didn't he say that he was going to be done with the show soon anyway a few months back?

also a federal judge said the nsa needs to cut back on some of it's shit.

If A&E cancels the show it will get picked up elsewhere. Hey, 2-3 mos ago it was the biggest cable/dish show ever...still has the highest ratings. Money trumps all. If no network picks them up, I bet they don't really give a shit

you think it's dumb, buck thinks it's retarded, but the truth is there are millions of people who agree with these sentiments.

So what?! isn't one of the true benefits of a functional society the ability to coexist with others of different beliefs??

Just as we should welcome those of other religions or other sexual persuasions shouldn't we also welcome people like this??

Freedom of speech doesn't mean shit to an employer.. the government isn't booting him from the show, it has nothing to do with free speech.

i don't think he is hateful at all, quite the opposite.

he undoubtedly has a steadfast belief in a book whose text is over two thousand years old....anyone who falls into this category has some special problems to work out no question.

this comes out right around the holidays and I see Duck Dynasty merch EVERYWHERE. I know the show is growing in popularity, and I happen to think those guys are kinda entertaining...but the timing. Just something to think about. I'm not saying that making remarks like this is going to garner a whole bunch of fans, but a lot of people now know about Duck Dynasty that didn't two weeks ago.

Absolutely.
How would we know what's positive without the negative. I've made a conscious effort to try and be more of an idealist than cynic over the last few years of my life. I also cringe when I hear it at large family functions. I have a few street preachers where I'm at. I don't agree, and I hate it when they use a bullhorn. I'm glad they have the right to do it though.

With that said there seems to be a pick at will mentality for the view. People eat shellfish, don't hit their children and wives with rods anymore,(as a normal socially accepted way of life in the u.s.) they generally wear more than wool and at times in a Capitalistic Society serve Money and God. Matthew 6:24 says that can't be the case. Yet the sexualization aspect seems to be the big red beacon of hate.

plenty of christians in this world, nothing requires them to use their religion to demean and insult gay people.

plenty of people use that book to be more loving, more forgiving, more understanding, more welcome, more loving.

others use it to scapegoat gays. and blacks (curse of ham).

there is no legitimate reason to tolerate these types of people, they should be relegated to the fringes.

No offense, but that's the very definition of Free Speech. To get to say whatever dumb ass retarded shit comes to mind, without government reprisal. Doesn't make their opinion right. (That's why Nation of Islam, Black Panthers, Klu Klux Klan, Aryan Nation, NAMBLA, NAACP, ACLU, and even RIU exist.)

Of course, "Free Speech" as defined in the US Constitution, Amendment 1 ONLY protects your speech from GOVERNMENT interference. A&E is just another shitbag pile of producers and marketing execs. No free speech guarantee from "the press."

See, I don't find this insulting or demeaning at all. Simply someones interpretation of the book. And also some pretty good points on sex.

Hmmm...I guess I missed the part where Robertson begged for interviewers to ask him stuff. He was being interviewed by a magazine that picked him to boost their own revenue. I'm an old man and before many of you were born my mom told me "If you don't want to know the answer, don't ask the question". And I guess I missed the part about Robertson soliciting folks to interview him.
