Enough Light in flowering tent?

I currently have a veg room and flowering tent

in the veg room which is 26inch by 28inch i have a 2ft x 2ft T5 fluorescent that has 8 bulbs i think its 200w, im not to concerned because all of my plants are doing great in there as you can see: https://www.rollitup.org/t/no-1-throhax.817975/page-2#post-10389345

but

in my 2x4 flowering tent i have:
130w ufo LED that has mostly red LEDs(5 blue, and 1 white)
270w advanced spectrum led here are the specs from the website
  1. 90x LED's Diodes with 3w Chips
  2. Light Blue LED wavelength: 430nm
  3. Blue LED wavelength: 460nm
  4. Orange LED wavelength: 630nm
  5. Red LED wavelength: 660nm
  6. Infrared LED wavelength: 710 IR
  7. White LED wavelength: 10,000k
  8. 150 Degree Angle Lens for optimum light penetration and intensity

My questions are:
Will 400w of LED power be enough to get a good yield?

How far should i have the LEDs from the canopy? or does it not matter since they are in grow tent that is completely reflective all over?

Hi Thorhax

Ok so you have 400 watts to cover 8sqft. The led panels you have are not going to pull an actual 400 watts usually they put out anywhere from 50-75% there stated power. Assuming there pumping at 75% your actual wattage is around 300watt or 37.5 watts a sqft. With chinese diodes being less efficient than usa made diodes you're going to want to be around 50-60 actual watts to get the results your after.

General rule of thumb is 3w diodes 12-18" from canopy and 5w diodes 18-24" from canopy. The closer the panel is to the canopy the more intense it is but you loose alot of light spread.

From my experience intensity drops very quick when you get 6 inches past the panel in any direction so its always better to get multiple smaller panels over the canopy than one big panel.

I would either scrog or sog just keep the canopy as even as possible. When you transfer your plants from veg give them a week or so to acclimate to the led's before you flip to 12/12. When there acclimating under the leds just use the 270w panel. Then when you flower kick on the 130w panel and if possible get an additional 130w so you can have one on each side of the big panel.

Use what you have and if some some of the canopy looks stretched, leafy or under developed add more light.

Thank you very much, that was very helpful. but just to confirm what you said, i only have about 300w going to the plants?

Yes just keep the plants short as your penetration will not be the best using only led.

in short if u are going for maximum yeild no a 400w is not enought

i had 2 300 in a 4x4x6 tent ........the amount i got compared to a hid 600 was off..........the last 3 weeks i added in a 600w hps with the 2 300 leds

the best advice i can offer is look into UFOs or LED spotlight ... to add in on the 400w
