I've been finding it difficult to wrap my head around the information concerning the QWISO and BHO processes.
For one thing, when you're a beginner, the level of jargon, abbreviations, acronyms and slang can reduce an article (or thread)
to being incomprehensible. But, with a little perseverance, and a few requests for clarification, the language starts to clear up.
Another problem, for Europeans, is that the vast majority of the CONCENTRATES threads are written by, and for, North Americans
and the equipment that is used in the process is often unavailable in Europe.
EVERCLEAR is very rare (but can be bought for about 8 times the American price)
Iso 99.9% is available relatively cheaply.
Butane is here - It takes a little bit more digging to ensure it's suitable (x3 or x5)
and even more research to ensure there are no ingredients that are unwanted.
VACUUM CHAMBERS
Although I read about these, in MANY oil/hash threads, I am still unsure exactly what they do?
Specifically what type/size is appropriate and
If they are available, in the UK, without the vast expense of importation....?
LOTS OF TRIM....
In about 2 weeks my crop will be chopped and hung to dry.
I will not use any of the prime buds - Their value makes it unfeasible -
but I will use all the trich coated trim leaves, the lesser buds (lower/popcorn)
and the small stems (which I am told have a fair 'trichome to vegetation ratio'.
WHAT I DO NOT KNOW....
?What is the best way to prepare the plant material ready for it being used to make concentrates?
(Should it be dried - like the prime bud?
or should it be used as fresh as possible?).
?What is the least complicated way to make oil?
I have already communicated with a few of the concentrate cognoscenti (qwisoking, spicysativa et al)
and received excellent advise.
BUT There has been so many different systems and techniques and methods
that my mind is swimming in far too much choice and I have lost focus.
NOW, HOWEVER, D-DAY APPROACHES!
And I need to start acquiring the necessary materials.
Although WAX, BUTTER, SHATTER, GOO are all spoken of with respect
in the UK they have little recognition.
OIL and HASH are the most demanded
but HASH sells for less than average weed.
LEAVING OIL as the only real option for me to make.
(If I manage to impress with OIL, I may be able to encourage a few to sample the other concentrated forms...?
but I doubt that there will be much call for edible stuff).
