Evangelicals turn on Trump?

Christianity Today, the evangelical Christian magazine founded by televangelist Billy Graham, called for Donald Trump’s removal from office following the president’s impeachment, marking a significant split from what has typically been Trump’s staunch base.
The editor-in-chief, Mark Galli, wrote: “The facts in this instance are unambiguous: the president of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president’s political opponents.
“That is not only a violation of the constitution; more importantly, it is profoundly immoral.”
Galli went on: “We believe the impeachment hearings have made it absolutely clear, in a way the Mueller investigation did not, that President Trump has abused his authority for personal gain and betrayed his constitutional oath. The impeachment hearings have illuminated the president’s moral deficiencies for all to see. This damages the institution of the presidency, damages the reputation of our country, and damages both the spirit and the future of our people.”
Evangelical supporters have made peace with Trump’s history of marital infidelity and "grab them by their pussy's" comments, lauding Trump’s conservative court appointments and supreme court nominees.
Galli raised questions about that moral compromise, writing: “This president has dumbed down the idea of morality in his administration.”
“He has hired and fired a number of people who are now convicted criminals,” Galli wrote. “He himself has admitted to immoral actions in business and his relationship with women, about which he remains proud. His Twitter feed alone – with its habitual string of mischaracterizations, lies, and slanders – is a near perfect example of a human being who is morally lost and confused.”
“To the many evangelicals who continue to support Mr Trump in spite of his blackened moral record, we might say this: remember who you are and whom you serve,” Galli wrote. “Consider how your justification of Mr Trump influences your witness to your Lord and Savior. Consider what an unbelieving world will say if you continue to brush off Mr Trump’s immoral words and behavior in the cause of political expediency. If we don’t reverse course now, will anyone take anything we say about justice and righteousness with any seriousness for decades to come?”
God damn!!!
Holy motherfucking shit!!!!
The Christian religious right is actually beginning to realize that Trump is a Serpent sent by the Devil to Destroy the World?
My, oh my !!!!
What a fucking joke :)

eh, it's been argued they have been refuted by his actual son and that Graham voted for the Cheeto himself. I wouldn't get all excited about the "religious right" changing their minds on anything very quickly....

The magazine represents the moderate evangelicals, which apparently is a minority, most are bat shit crazy. And Graham likes to watch the pool boy fuck his wife.

That's what I mean, it is a *moderate leaning "evangelical" magazine... those are rather slim pickings for a niche audience. Not sure about the cucking but that seems kinda common on both sides based on porn searches!

Edited for ol' foggy doggy, apparently "moderate" is the term for this magazine.

Like I said. Trump's support base can only shrink from here on out. The DNC primary will decide the country's next leader.

Yeah but they need a united base and someone to rally behind. Not "anyone but orange man"

Especially if someone like Bloomberg gets their panties in a wad for not being the "chosen one" and decides to go split the vote. That is practically just giving it back. It feels the same as 2016, the race is to whomever can get the moderates and independents to hold their nose and go "well, better this than the other guy"

Doesn't feel like 2016.

The election in 2014 pretty much went to right wing politicians and the vibe leading up to the 2016 campaigns were full of anger over Obama.

Every since Trump took office, it's been a long series of Republikkkan defeats. But hey, if you just want to have your news filtered by Fox in order to hold your conviction in truthy crap, it's fine with me. Your living in lala land doesn't affect reality one bit.

Nope, "anyone but orange man", is actually enough. His support can not grow, it can only shrink now. Only idiots and racists still support him and not even all of them do anymore. I'd even consider voting for Bernie if he wins. That's how important "anyone but orange man" is.

Can someone help me toward an interpretation of Article II, Section Two, Clause 1 of the Constitution, regarding pardon power?

Does this mean that once impeached, he can no longer be pardoned, even in a criminal court, after he is voted out of office? Or does it simply mean that he can not be pardoned from impeachment proceedings, in the case of a resignation subsequent to them, but before his term has expired?

You sure mention panties a lot

I read that their subscriptions went way up after the trump article.....it's gonna be moderates that turn away from trump that will decide the election, and trump is turning them away in bunches....

This is gonna be you, again, when Trump most likely "wins" in about 11 months.
