Experienced grower wants some advice for new room

I am an experienced hydro grower who has to start a new room. I only grow for myself so going huge is not my goal I just want to get the best quality with a nice quantity. Quality is the biggest thing. My previous room was 8x8x6. I ran 2- 1000 watt lights off of a lighting controller . I also had T5 strips on all 4 walls. I brought in air from the outside to cool the lights and dump outside air into the room. I always was very successful minus a run or two that had random issues.
My questions are in regard to my new room. I don't have the space that I had in the previous room as well as I was think ing of downsizing the number of plants I grow because I always got disproportionate plants always two monsters and two undersized so I was thinking . Since the new room is going to only be about 5x8x6 is it a waste to run two lights? Will they be canceling each other out in a smaller space? Should I be able to achieve the same results with spacing them out under 1-1000watt and the T5 strips ?

Well I'm assuming those dimensions are lxwxh, which gives you 40 sq ft. assuming your 1000 watts are HPS thats around 300,000 lumens (of course that depends on bulbs) which puts you at 7,500 lumens per sqft + the T5's. are the 4ft t5's or 2ft? 4 bulb? 8 bulb? sunlight is about 10,000 lumens per sqft at the end of June/beginning of July. (depending on location but that's about avg unless your on the equator of poles) Your probably hitting around that mark from what it sounds like so i would do still 4 plants, SCRoG them and keep the all lights (rearranging if need be to keep the light on the tops). BUT, and here is the but, that is preference. you should easily be able to do 4 plants in that size of room and have premo cannabis. In the old grow did your grow 4 of the same strain? clones off the same plant? did you employ any techniques to keep the canopy even or switch the plants around so the shorties were always in the middle? lot a factors here man including strain/pheno.

Thanks for the reply. I run 2-Phantom 1000 watt digital balasts into a lighting controller with Hortilux bulbs . I have 4- 4 ft. T 5 strips. With my old grows I did 8 plants when I started with all the same strain. I always ended up with one monster plant a few nice plant and always one or two that are shit. I have always produced premo stuff so I know the method is good. But I always felt that I was wasting something with these crappy plants. Then I started tying everything down to keep an even canopy and that improved but nothing great. Eventually I downsized to 6 figuring they needed more space always though at least one crappy ass plant. I built a SCROG improved things but still noticed the middle plants were never as big. I decided I a gonna do 4 plants SCROG the only decision I have left to make is.. Do I still run the two 1000 watt ballasts or will they be canceling each other out ? Will I do just as good with the 1- 1000 watt and the T-5's?

8' wide
6' high

If that's correct 2x1000w would work great. Each covering a 5x4 area. Make your screen to fit each light.

Mount light right in the centre and job done.

However SCROG with a 1000w IMO is a waste of the penetration power of the 1k light. You've got 4' of penetration you can use.

Personally if it were me I would just grow 6 plants per light keeping them under 4ft max height should see you with an easy 4oz a plant.

So that would be around 24oz per light minimum.

SCROG IMO was designed for lower wattage lights with less penetration power.
