exposed roots?!

The root network is quite exposed on all 5 of my plants! This cannot be normal. Maybe this results from over watering? I'm laying off the water anyways, but should I add a layer of new soil and/or peat moss just so they're covered or leave em be? I don't wanna wait to see what happens cause...they're roots...and I foresee potentially devastating consequences

You can see the roots from the top??

Got any pics?

If so, sounds like you used way to much water.

I usually try to keep all roots covered at the top. The reason being it can dry out that part of the system. If watering cause the soil or other medium to settle, I just add a little more. There is also the issue of the roots being exposed to light.

When you water do you water all the way through so water is coming out the bottom of the pot? I had similar problem when i was growing in soil. I was too worried about overwatering so when i did water i would only water the top few inches. I would cover the exposed roots with some soil or something too keep the light of it other wise they will die or turn green.

Yes I tend to agree with Tommy here. Sometimes if I am watering my plants ; over time it will eat away at the top soil with the flow of water. This may cause roots to be exposed. Just take some more soil and cover them up.
