Extremely root bound plants

Hello everyone
I will try cut a long long story short but im not really good at that.
So i have got clones of my favourite strains which have been in there same small pots for like 3 months now maybe more but at least 3 months.
There not looking the best as you can imagine due to being heavily root bound and being too close together but there still well alive with quite alot of green leaves compared to yellow but completely purple extremely rigid stems.
What should i do?
1. Take clones from them? I could probably get 5 or so off of each plant. I have never taken clones off of plants in this state before but would assume it may have some sort of impact on rooting and do not want to loose the genetics.
2. Try to loosen the rootball then repot wait for new growth and take clones from the new growth? I haven't really done this before so if you got any proven tactics or tricks please let me know.
3. Take a clone or 2 off each plant try get them to root and repot the Root bound plants basically options 1 and 2 together.
Option number 1 would be best for me but i do not want to loose these genetics.
Opinions appreciated massively but please only from people experienced with this scenario they should have been repotted at least 10 weeks ago but for various reasons it wasnt possible.

I have a couple mothers in square 3” pots going on 6 months. But they need to be taken out and have a root hacking and repotted into the same pots again. I do what this article suggests mostly except I feed synthetics with lots of runoff at a low strength.
