so my 6 inch Can-fan was pulling way too much air out, so I put it on a blueprint fan controller. So can-fan tells you not to operate at 40% or below as you can burn up the motor. I hooked up a kill a watt meter to find out where 40% lies. Well at full speed it runs at 75 watts so 40% would be around 30 watts...low and behold the lowest the blueprint controller allows it to go is around 46 watts. Which is fine for me as I will not be running it that low.

Now I probably will get a day/night fan temp controller so I can just "set it and forget it" ...just a bit of info on my set up. A simple Kill-A-Watt meter is like 20-30 bucks and is nice to be reassured.
 
That's a good idea to test the watts. I'm getting a controller, so I think I will do that to know where the safe low setting is.

Beware if the fan is on a carbon filter, low volume will give poor scrubbing performance.

never knew running air too slow through a filter would not scrub the air....I know running it too fast will not allow the charcoal to do it's job.
 
The molecules need to “shear” as they flow thru the carbon. Your filter should have the min. amount of air flow listed as well as the max.

I rely on the "fart" test. Drizzle stands outside the grow room by the exhaust while I let em rip inside. We can tune that speed in good with this method.

Can you elaborate please? :lol: how does this fart test work? Who is drizzle? LMAO
 
So I should mention that the Blueprint fan controller on max setting exceeds the 75 watt fan rating ( specs and what it registers without controller). So this fan controller at max runs the fan at 115%.
