FAN & FILTER for 2-Chamber Cabinet - Need Suggestions

Ok guys, I've searched for hours now on fans, and my head is seriously spinning....

Below are 3 pics of the cabinet I am going with....I plan on having a compartment up top for electrical as well as a fan and carbon filter....I plan on taking the center divider and moving it a little bit so I have a larger area for flowering while I have a smaller area for veggin'.....I would also like it quiet so I need stealth....

Some ideas I've had in addition to a good fan are: 1) building a box around the fan to quiet it 2) use a muffler 3) use a fan controller and/or 4) line the walls (of the top section only) with acoustic insulation

Now if I have two chambers how do you guys suggest I run the duct work so I can suck out the air and odor from both chambers but also keep the light/darkness separate ?

Also, what fans and or filters would you suggest for this cabinet so that I can keep it stealth.

ps: the 4th pic is someone else's similar cabinet....I showed the pic to give you an idea as to what the top area will look like for the electrical stuff and the fan....

Thanks SC, rep for good answers :leaf: :peace:

FWIW : I am using cfls

I have the soler and palau td-100x and it is pretty quiet.

I think the biggest hurdle will be light sealing between veg and flower area.

Use a double venturi and spray the inside matt black, keep the duct work very short and avoid bends and kinks

There will always be an element of noise, so handle the noise by putting it on a timer and locating the cab, away from people, ensure that your volume has a complete air change in 3-5 minutes, see ventilation manual ..lol

again avoid bends and kinks, consider LED's a lot less heat or cfl's

good luck

That last pic kinda reminds me of how people put a huge exhaust on a tiny 4 cylinder beater car. :-P The cabinet looks ok. I'm worried about the depth of the cabinet, it's only 20 and a half inches. You might run into some crowding issues. BTW, I'm a Home Depot Fan as well. :-P

Does anyone have any suggestions for what CFM I should get ? I am thinking of splitting the duct coming off the carbon filter and then running an individual duct to each grow chamber from there.....

Also, what diameter duct should I go with ?

thanks, SC

for a cab id probably go with 4 inch like 200 cfm or less. if each area is not air tight i would just suck the air out of the flowering part and it should get the whole cab.
