Read the Department of Justice’s “Haag Memo” here:
http://www.cannabistherapyinstitute.com/legal/feds/doj.haag.memo.pdf

In a little-publicized memo, the federal government has indicated that the
gloves are off with regards to medical marijuana dispensaries, “regardless
of state laws.” Previous memos had indicated a loosening of federal
prosecutions of medical marijuana, however the new memo states very clearly
that the feds consider all dispensaries illegal under federal law and that
their prosecution is a “core priority” of the feds.

The “Haag Memo” clears up that misconception with some very unambiguous
statements. The memo says clearly that the feds will not look the other way
on medical marijuana. The “Haag Memo” states very clearly that the feds
will continue to investigate, arrest and prosecute medical marijuana
dispensaries in every state “regardless of state laws.”

In addition, the memo calls prosecuting medical marijuana dispensaries a
“core priority” for the feds.

This is one of over 200 nationwide news reports on this subject that surfaced in the last 24 hours.
I've read several user comments in several of these reports and it would be even more interesting to hear your thoughts on this latest threat from the feds and on the future or demise of medical marijuana dispensaries?

if they start attacking dispensaries, all they will succeed in doing is further bluring the line between medical users and black market recreational users.

If you read the entire thing, they are focused on warehouse and large scale operations. Did not say anything about dispensaries.

Go to this Weed Blog link for assurance. This is just one out of over 400 and counting reports in the last 24 hours nationwide.
The reports are divided between warehouse/large scale operations and dispensaries.

The Justice Department and the Obama administration appear to have backtracked on early promises to respect state medical marijuana laws, opening the door for more federal raids on medical marijuana growers and dispensaries. I couldn't pull up the 2009 memo but a new memo released this week by the Obama administration reaffirms federal authorities' right to target marijuana dispensaries — and those who cultivate and sell pot — regardless of state law.

The feds sent a warning to the State of Rhode Island as 3 compassion centers were approved and just about to open. The letter stated that they would raid the large scale grow ops regardless of state law as RI's new centers would grow there own meds in warehouse sized grows. The same letter also said the administration would not go after caregivers and patients operating under state laws.
