Feminized seeds - do they always produce female plants?

I've had five plants in the bloom tent for about two weeks, and flowers are starting to pop. So far, they all look female - yellow tendrils coming out of a small yellow fuzzball, pics to follow. They were all grown from seed; G13 Haze Feminized from Barney's Farm, via Attitude.

Big question: How reliable is the "Feminized" label?

Since this is my first grow, I'm still a bit uncertain as to determining the sex of my plants, and I'd like to feel comfortable that there aren't any roosters in the hen house. Generally, is it safe to assume that feminized seeds from a reputable source will always produce female plants? And if not, how common is it to end up with males?

Also, if a plant is male, how long from when the pollen sacks appear before they release their pollen, i.e. if I don't spot them right away, how long is the grace period before the other plants are in danger?

Thanks!:peace:

Fem seeds from strains of stable genetics are less likely to hermie than some out there. It's a matter of how forgiving they are to stress that might cause a hermie. The light leak that might hermie the new whiz-bang strain, might not hermie Northern Lights. Of course other factors like quality and age and what the grower does are important too.

I have only had two seeds out of very many that were advertised as being feminized turn out to be dudes. They were actually both from a less than reputable breeder (Flash) and were extra cheap to begin with. If you're paying for good genetics from a quality breeder my experience has always been 10/10 on the fems with usually at least a 80% germination rate on the beans - some of which can be attributed to human error.

In 5yrs growing fems i had 3 herms TCC full blown males CH9 critical mass 33 nanners everywhere GHS Bubba kush.
After doing research i found many people with herms from these 3 breeders.

I agree with hoss fems from a good breeder are 99% female.
Regs from a shitty breeder will herm on you.

Wow, great info! And a relief....when I started this grow (my first), I knew I was ignorant. And the longer I get into it, the more I discover how much there is to know. I've viewed 100's of hours of tutorial videos and read 100's of forum posts, articles, journals, etc, and still every day there's something new to learn. Far and away, it's the good folks here at riu that always seem to come through when another panic attack occurs:dunce:. Thanks for the excellent info:clap:

Breeders I've always been really happy with ....

Sagamantha
Big Buddah
Dutch Passion
Barney's
Sweet Seeds

I'm a little hazy on the details but over the years I know everything I've ordered from them has grown fem as advertised and had excellent germination rates.
