I was in 1 gallon pot with FFOF at 3 weeks old now I transplanted to a 5 gallon pot. So with that being done my question is; Do I gain a extra 3-4 weeks of being able to water without nutes as long as I’m in veg still?

Fresh stuff means fresh nutes. Just watch for deficiency. Nitrogen usually shows first.

You know I just think of that as a given. Rule of thumb - add more perlite. Never vermiculite. Aeration by whatever means.

Ya FFOF is full of nutes. It lasts me about 3 weeks before needing nutes, when fresh. I've been using the same FFOF in my 15 gal pots for 10 months now, and so far so good. Only using organics though. I didn't add perlite to it and haven't had any issues, but I drilled the hell out of the bottom of my pots. Now that I know more, I would of added it. I actually have lava rock and biochar downstairs and plan on getting some rice hulls for whenever I decide to mix my soil around, but thought I would do some experimenting with not disturbing the soil structure first and start learning more about No-till. When you reuse it from old grows, the little bit of roots left in it won’t hurt anything?

No, they haven't hurt mine. The soil microbes break em down and turn em back into food for the plants. I do give them a little Hygrozyme sometimes, just as extra, but don't think they really need it. I do think it's better though if you can let the pots sit for awhile between batches if you can. Then the bacteria can do its thing. I have 4 sitting now for next time downstairs. But, I just reused them immediately for this batch (flowering), and the next batch (their clones) that are vegging.
2nd round in same FFOF. 10 months now.

Got damn im jealous haha... may I ask what type of light are you using for veg and flower also do you defoliate during flower

Thanks man. Last time I had the whole closet packed, but wanted to keep it a little simpler this time. I have 2 cmh lights in my flower closet, and a 6 lamp t5 in my veg tent. Really impressed with both lights. And as far as defoliation goes, I try to do most of that in veg, but still do some in flower if leaves are blocking bud sites. But I never touch the top few leaves though.

They won't hurt anything. There's guys that recycle their soil for years. They break down adding organic matter to the soil just like in nature and cannabis is just another plant. You don't see farmers out straining roots out of the fields in between crops. In some areas of the world where they grow acres of cannabis for hashish they cut the plants off at the ground and just till the entire root ball back into the soil. People reuse soil all the time for houseplants, container plants on the patio etc... Cannabis will grow just like any other plant. There is nothing special about it. The same principles and techniques used for other plants apply to cannabis. Treat it like any other plant and it will grow just fine.
