Fiber Coir vs. Piece Coir

All my local store had was piece coir, and not knowing any better I got it but just learned that it's not very good by itself, I guess it's to airy
compared to the fiber coir. Was wondering if anyone else has used piece coir with success? Would adding less or no perlite be helpful? Any
input at all would be great. Thank you.

I'm doing my first grow so take this for what it is worth. I mixed soil 20%, vermiculite 20%, and coco fiber 60% and my plants are doing great. My guess would be if you mixed it with soil then it should be a good balance of airy, water wicking to denser, water holding. Like I said this is my first grow but my plants seem to love it.

One thing I forgot to mention is water ph. I keep mine between 6.0 and 6.4. The coco seems to balance the soils higher ph well.
