the FIM ( fuck i missed) method works Great! indoors and out.
i would say that you should perform the fim method on an outdoor plant.

it depends on the situation. if its close to your house I've seen plants topped to as big as a car with a stem reaching the size of a cola can. but if your growin in tall weeds or pine trees it's best to do your pruning before you plant so the plant wont be out competed for light and be shaded out by the stuff around it.

im not afraid of the chopper or anyone becuz of the trees height. my secret garden is well kepts (atleast that what i think for now). i want my lil' girl to produce high yield. i'll be so happy if i can harvest OPOP (one plant-one pound) I will be satisfied if i can get half pound off a plant. if i let it grow tall and hopefully get a large stem will that produce more yield? or prune it and let it grow low, create more branches and bushy will this method produce more yield?

from the thread OPOP over at the ICMAG.com many growers were impressed about tall plants - they said it produced over a pound per plant. those were out door plant. not sure if it out of seed or clones.

*my babies are purple haze, grow out of clones not seed, currently feeding foxfarm nutes npk @ 6-4-4*

fimming a plant after it is outside wont increase yield, because your plant will be stunted for a week or two from the damage you did to the growth tips. also after having plants repeatedly chewed downby woodchucks, and regrown, i have found that having too many growth tips will severely slow down the growth of the plant. i ended up trimming of 3/4 ths of growth shoots one year just to get the plant to start growing upwards! Think about this, marijuana has been around for millions of years, and through the course of natraul selection and whatnot, they have evolved in the same way almost all other shrubs and some trees grow, in the "christmas tree" shape, this is because it offers the best light to all the leaves, and the fastest growth, as to overgrow any competition, among many other smaller factors. if a plant grows the best structor out of a field of plants, it will grow the tallest, make the most buds, capture the most pollen and realease the most seeds, eventually over many seasons that phenotype could take over the field. nature always finds the most effecient way, though it can take hundreds of thousands of seasons to get that way. many people find they get the best yield by embracing some of those natraly evolved traits, after all who but the plant knows the best way to survive?

well said, beaner - i kinda agreed with you on too much tips and trick may fuckup the plants. being agressive first time grower i guess i will just water it when neccessary with the nutes i have and let the mother nature take care the rest. or manybe i'll tweak a little bit here and there on few plants for experiement. i think the majorities of the growfaq is for in door anywase. thanks.

btw: what is the hot market for the nutes? the one has the most effective.

i would say Advanced Nutrients is best, though very expensive, it's formulated just for pot...
