What's shaking everyone? Finally subscribed to a forum. I noticed myself using this one more than the others, so I figured I'd sign up and let everyone know how things are going. I must say, I am very excited to correspond, as this has been a secret for a couple of years. Only my wife knows, becuase she helps me out, despite her black thumb. She's doing good though.
It seriously took about 2 years of research and getting supplies and setting up to get this started. It was well worth the time. I'm set up with a DR120 (as I see lots of new growers using), a 400W HPS/MH switchable lamp (space is my biggest issue, we ain't rich you know), a windtunnel 4", 200CFM fan running from the elf charcoal filter, through the air cooled lamp, and then venting out. I've been told that the fan is too small, but not by much. I can't really tell, as the kids are doing WAY better than I thought they would on this first grow of mine. Now, I heard customs in chicago are not the easiest to get seeds through, so I just brought some up from Colorado (where I was living before here). Not quite sure of the strains, but I know there's a couple AK48s and an Anunake strain in there. They've been going strong about 3 weeks. Had a little issue with heat stress (because I am a doofus and had my digital hygro/thermometer reading the wrong damn room) but it seems to have straightened out and they are EXPLODING now. Had to weed out a couple scrawny ones, but only 1 of 13 didn't sprout.
Right now, I've got the light about 15-18 inches from the 9 that are left. Some are a little bigger than others, but they are all about the same height. One of them is a fucking beast and is really showing promise. And she was the last one to sprout. I will try to get some pics up sometime. Can't seem to find my camera.
I don't currently have any questions since they are doing amazing. I know some will come up, but I wanted to get myself out into the forum since this is my first grow (soil, 3 gal grow bags). If anybody has any questions or has 2 cents to throw in, by all means, lay it on me. I am very open to suggestions and feedback from some of the more experienced out there. Oh, and I'm not just a kid experimenting with this. I'm a veteran that would rather self medicate with the wonderful cannabis plant than pump my system full of synthetic nonsense the gov't wants to give me. Don't worry, I'm out now. Hope to hear from some of you guys soon!
