Ok so This was my first canni plant although I have been growing great flowers and veggies for years. I started off w/ a clone of a Mango strain that I got from a dispensary here in CA. I didn't know anything really about this stuff and figured I would use this one as practice and use what I had learned for the next ones and go from there. I will post pictures of the extensive problems and defincancies that I went through. I am now supposedly 3 weeks from harvest according to all of the research that I have done on this certain strain. I only used nutes once in vegetative and 2x at the point where I switched to flowering stage. I have recently got it worked out exactly what I am going to do for the next couple plants that I do. I went and bought a 10 lb. bag of "Dr. Earth" soil and some good pots to put them in. This new soil is just amazing! It is supposed to be a huge improvment over Fox Farm that a lot of people use. From what I have heard from several growers, when using this soil you dont really need any type of nutes until flowering stage. How great and inexpensive will that be if it works?!
I could really post 3 pages or so in this post about all of the problems I had with it and still managed her to stay O.K. looking up until now. She only reached a height of 27" but has 56 blooming spots. I really dont have anything to compare that to but I should get a couple of oz out of it for personal I would think. Take a look and you can tell me.
I started with crappy clay dirt, not even bag soil, major over-watering and drainage issues, bugs....And the list goes on and on.​

Lemme know if you think I saved her, whats the yield gonna be, that kind of stuff please.

Hi GG, I'm not familiar with Mango, your plant looks sativa dominate, which would indicate a long flowering.
From the pix , I would guess at least 6 weeks or more. You say it's 27", and that seems a little small for the 5 gallon bucket it's in. I also noticed a little "brown tipping" on the leaves, that could indicate a bit of nute burning. You didn't mention lighting, one pic seems to be under HPS, so what size and for how long?
The main thing is, you HAVE a flowering girl, love it, nurture it and most of all, learn from it. The experience we get with each grow makes subsequent grows bigger and better. Good luck & good grow.......BB
 
i think it looks like its coming along looked like a little nute burn but nothing to bad maybe from swappin the soil form the bad to the good like a little shock but looks good to me

Here is a link to the Mango strain. It tells all about it but I THINK mine may have been cross bred with something else. It claims that the true Mango is 100% Indica but the one on this page shows that the leaves start to turn a purplish color and mine havent. The stems did turn almost a rhubarb color. So im not really sure what it could be crossed with, they just told me that it was Mango when I got it. Some of the other websites that I had looked at about Mango show it as a bright lime green which mine appears to be, soooo...???
I suppose it could be nutrient burn but not from overuse of chems its probably more likely that it was caused by poor drainage issues when using them causing the roots to just sit in the nutes right? Ive only used any nutes 3x throughout its entire life cycle.
The only light that I had money for when I started was a 150HPS so thats what it has been under for the whole time. I havent really figured out what other type of light I am supposed to buy and when to use it for the next plants, thats really the most major thing that I think I need to worry about on the next one. I still dont have the money or room for a huge set-up but if I were going to buy another light to use in conjunction w/ the HPS what should it be?
I am pretty disappointed by the height of the plant but it hasent grown any taller in the last week or so which obviously could be caused by "shocking" the plant when I changed the soil but its still doing more and more flowering so its probably more likely that from not knowing what I was doing, having very poor drainage and not using hardly any nutes.
The 5Gal. was probably much too big for what I had, I just kinda went with what I had at home and by what I had seen some other people use. For the next grow, I got 2- 3 gallon pots which should work much better. I think between the SMALL amount of knowledge I have gotten from this plant, what I have read and all the growers I have talked to since I started and the great soil that I now have, the difference between this plant and my next ones should be like night and day!
I forgot to mention one thing about the 150w HPS that I have been using. Actually, for about the first week I had planned on her being an outdoor plant but a week or so in I thought maybe it would be better for her to be inside, so at this crucial time she went without light for quite a while which im sure could have easily stunted her growth. Im actually very lucky that I am really good at gardening and recognizing problems or she would have been dead long ago, I guess that makes me the Dr. Frankenstein of plants, I seem to have brought her back from the dead more than once. It does say on that link that I posted, that for an indoor grow, to keep her size in check, I should have moved her into flowering stage at something like 2-3 weeks but I had waited until maybe 40 days before I did that. Who knows how she wouldve turned out if I had.
At 35-40 days she went from 18/4 to flowering 12/12 and she has been there since March 1st.
 
The 150 HPS will work for the flowering, but you might want to add CFL supplement around the sides, for a proper boost. This is not an expensive proposition, $20/30 would cover it. The "bright lime green" you speak of,
and the narrow leaves are indicative of her sativa genes.

You're a lot farther from harvest than three weeks. From the looks of that plant, it's barely three weeks in. Better lighting will definitely help. Looks like you've got about three more months till harvest looking at the Sativa dominancy in her. Yes it's flowering, yes you will EVENTUALLY get something, but you're a lot farther from chop time than the three weeks you've stated.

It may be more than 3 weeks away but according to the stats on the plant on diff sites its 6 to 8 weeks to finish flowering from start of 12/12 and since nobody really seems to be familiar with this strain, the web is all I have to go by.

Since it seems that it is going to be a while longer before she is ready... Now that I got this new soil, pots, knowledge etc. im gettin impatient about starting one I can do better on, will it be an okay idea to get another clone and stick it in the closet with her or am I going to need to get those CFL's for thats and put her in a new place? That way when "Lucy",(the one I have now) is ready to harvest it will be time to hopefully start to flower the new clone. I cant image that a 6" clone would really be sucking up that much light from Lucy. Thoughts?
 
Forget about the seed companies recommendations. These plants are just beginning to flower. They look like it will take 5-6 weeks at least to finish properly, possibly a little longer. You need to get a loupe and look at the trichomes to determine when the plant is ripe. There is lots of information concerning harvest times and trichome color. When the stigmas start to turn brown you may be getting close, but the color of the resin is the only true indication of ripeness.

Use a separate cfl for the clone.
 
are u still foliar feeding /spraying the whole plant looks that way in some pics that will bring mold later into flowering if u keep spraying the bud could just be the pics tho
 
I did know the stuff about needing at least an 8x + mag glass but it goes without saying, FOR ME atleast, I always take all advice and ideas that anyone has to offer, so just know that Im not snubbing your ideas by saying that I already knew. Keeping helping, thanks.

I will get the CFL's, what size are we talking? I really dont know much about the different lights. Am I going to need a new hood and ballast to go along with those or what?
 
Im not sure what foliar feeding is but at about 3 weeks of veg i misted the leaves with CNS17 1x. It caused white spots on all the leaves but that was long ago and I havent misted with anything except H2o ever since (about every 3 days). Was way over watering but a while back I got a soil probe that does Ph, light intake, and moisture and have corrected that problem. The pictures that I assume you are referring were caused by what I came to believe were fungus gnats because I saw a few gnats in there with the plant and had found a couple worm like larvae in the soil but with Safer brand bug spray and cutting up a piece of potato and putting it in the soil to attract the larvae, that problem was fixed. BUT, you may very well be right! I hadnt thought that maybe even since I didnt mist the plant with CNS while it was under light it could have still caused some problems. Thanks for the idea, wont do that again.
 
It seems the concensus says that my girl is more like 5-6 weeks instead of 3 weeks to harvest. I just noticed that these new 3 gal buckets that I just got for my next grow have an excess of drainage holes in the bottom which is great but its never gonna hold soil. Am I supposed to put hydro rocks in the bottom 2" or so or is there something else I am supposed to do?
