first closet grow need help and ideas

hows it goin guys i havent been on here in years. i did my first grow a pc grow about 3 years ago and had to stop growing (was living with parents) now im on my own got an appartment across the street from campus with 3 of my buddys. im looking to start up a new grow! i got a small closet space i want to put to use and need your help since i havent done a grow in years, this is only my second grow, and my first was a failed pc grow lol. anyways the space im looking to put to use is approx 28 inch lenth 22 in wide and 61 inch tall im going to attach some pics of the space. anyways my questions are 1.what should i do just an open closet grow? or put like a little tent or something in there? 2. what lights 400watt? 250? cfls? 3. ventilation i can NOT drill/cut through anything my closest has a sliding door if that matters.

* i am on a cheap budget. let me know what you guys think!

your gonna have to go with cfls. any kind of hid lighting is gonna raise the temps drastically. i had a cab going roughly the same size and with a dimmable ballast set at 450 and a window ac pumping into it i still maintained temps of around 80. with no way to ventilate your going to have serious problems with heat. good luck with everything

damn i was really hoping to be able to get at least a 250watt HPS in there. i have a window 4 feet a from teh closet. you think if i ran an exhaust duct out and sat it on the window sill itd be straight? maybe a little sketchy? would the smell be stright up dumping out of the exhaust? and what do you think do i put a little tent in there or just out in the open plant and lights with a fan in there? thanks for the reply!

in a small tent. im going to need a tent to tackle the smell. smells not really an issue my roomates are with me on it but we have fire checks where they check the smoke detectors in each room. every couple months

I have a 400w in a closet vertically. View attachment 2396221 Just venting the air into the room it stays in the low 80's, the intake just takes air from the opposite side of the room and blows it across the plants. (covered the light cause I was working in there with it on)

yeah im going for it but what size light you think i need for that space? 400 too much or is that good? tent size can be around L36inches or greater W21inches H60inches.

I'm growing in a closet similar to yours. I can't drill any exhaust holes either. I just keep the door open while the lights are on, and roll down a sheet of black and white poly at night. I'd say just have an oscillating fan going at all times. I'm using a 600w HPS and the temps are usually in the mid 80's.

Also, I don't think a tent would work in your situation as you would have no way to enter the tent since the door is on the long side?

first off thanks for your response and i would still be able to access the tent because my closet is really long about 11 feet across. so i would still be abel to get in and out of the tent. the only real reason i was thinking about the tent was for smell and to keep the light in. but i think a 400 watt for a 36x20x60 tent would be fine right? and any suggestions for what hood to get especially to keeo temps down.

No problem, we're all closet gardeners here A 400w would be just fine. A cool tube might be the ticket if you could duct the exhaust to the room. Necessity is the mother of invention My closet looks like this for now:

1. never said they were random.. they tell us when they are coming and the matinecnce guys are straight up hippies all into acid and my buddy works here so we know specifically when they come. all i would need to do is put the exaust ducting in the closet shut the door for the 30 seconds they are in my room to push a button on the alarm then leave. but thanks for the thought

my roomates are my 2 best friends.... and theyre throwin down for the lights and everything... doubt theyre gonna rob me for something is part their own fool. 2. matience isnt gonna know im just sayin they dont give a shit if they did. if your just gonna be a dick you can hop off

i might be a dick but i dont have people coming into my grow area and no one knows what im up to. not even my two best friends. my temps are a bit on the high side but i dont have to fuck with my exhaust. your making too many compromises. how many times are you gonna bend or re route your exhaust back into the closet before it breaks and needs replacing. best friends will fuck your gf but they wont blab about a grow? maybe not to the cops but who will those people tell, and then those people, etc. etc. good luck man. you'll probably be fine but youre smoking a pack a day and thinking you wont get cancer...

ok, now im gonna be nice. get a carbon filter. cut a hole in your closet and find a stealth vent cover. when you move out just patch the dry wall. you can do the same for intake. now as long as your shits air tight, you will be good. as far as your so called friends. tell them you dont want to do it anymore, blah blah blah... then secretly go behind their back and build your grow. you can purchase a tent but its a lot of money for simple light proofing.

im not sure what your local laws are like, but your current situation isnt good. where i am you can have up to 8 or 9 plants and just get a fine and possesion charge. other places, one plant will put you in jail. either way, dont leave any loose ends. if i had your current risk factors id say fuck growing and just keep buying. with that space and depending on lighting and shit you might get about half a pound once every 3-4 months. seeing as its your first grow, you'll be lucky to get a qp. is this money/bud worth all your time/investment/risk?

I have a digital 250w in a closet just a hair bigger than your and I could have gone bigger because I have good air circulation so it doesn't got too hot. so either a 400w if you can figure a way to vent it well in the closet or a 250w should be no problem.
