First DWC grow

well lets see. i have a 4gallon DWC setup.
with two 65w CFL's. 6000k for veg. 3000k for flwr.

it holds four plants

would this be possible to do maybe 2-3 plants maybe 2 feet tall in this??

im getting some nutes.

wat should i use for veg??? like what N.P.K ???

and for flwr what N.P.K would be okay??

That kit provides nutrients which should be fine for veg and bud state (or so it says...) so you might not have to worry about your own.

but i have a few questions for hydroponic growing
could i finish a plant in 60 days?

and if soo, do i need an actuall timer for to hydro unit itsself?
if so,how many hours a day?

The air bubbler runs 24/7 in that DWC setup. I'm not sure which CFLs produce half way decent buds I am retiring my cfl grow after this cycle for my new 4oo HID grow. heres a pic of the cfl which had 5 23 watt and 1 46 watt CFL for a total of 165 watts, you said you would be using 2 65 watts for 130 watts so it should be farly similar results

damn im inprest.
didnt think you could even manage to grow plants that size with CFL's.
and do i keep the water level ALL the way up to the bottoms of the netcups?
im a noob with hydroponics
im going to start with 2 plants.
flower at 1 month. but i need to know the N.P.K levels i should have in veg and flower.

Your hydro unit should run 24/7 but your lights should be 18/6 (or 24/0) and 12/12, so the lights need a timer.

I've read of some pretty decent grows using CFLs, this being one of them. Although CFLs will not get the results that HPS and other such lights will get you can still get a nice yield.

I'm actually building that unit at the moment, and I'm growing under CFLs, and Its my first grow. We seem to be in the same boat :hump: I'm pretty close to getting started so if you need any help don't hesitate to send me a PM (although the forums will probably give better advice, 5000 heads are better then 1)

i also need to know the level of the water and where it needs to stay
at the bottom of the netcup???

I'm not 100% sure but from what I can gather; Yes, bottom of the cup. You place the seedling into rockwool, a cube etc. and water it from the top. The roots will then grow down, between the holes and into the water. Don't start nutes till about 2 weeks in.

and the N.P.K levels veg and flower???

I'm not sure about this one either, I've just been told to buy the correct nutrients for the correct stage. E.g. Advanced Nutrients Bloom for flowering and Advanced Nutrients Grow for vegging.

and one thing if i flower when they get about a foot tall,
about how much would i get?? (grams) if i can grow maybe 2-4 plants maybe 1.5 feet tall i will be happy. this is my first grow and im doing this bcuz im tired of getting ripped off. buying a quarter and having them come back with a dime of brown crispy weed. so i thought shit I can do better than this. so here i am :]
sorry for ramblng on but i need just basic hydroponic info for DWC b4 i haul off and do it.

but thanks all you guys

I'd wait till they have roots before putting them into the rockwool.

That depends on a lot of variables making it impossible to answer. From what I've read though you might not even get to smoke your first bud, presuming the plants live to bud that is :-?.

It is recommended to start the seeds in the medium you are going to grow in.

Coco plugs and hydroton in net pots
is the most common method of growing dwc
since the coco causes less pH problems than rockwool.



This is a starter tub.

When they are larger, I fill the hydroton to the top of then net pot.

I move them out of the small tub
after they have been sprouted for a week.

Start your seeds in RO water.
and they will make roots faster.

If start them in a small tub,
you must sepperate them,
before the roots become entangled.

the water is usually kept at the bottom of the net cup to 1 inch below. don't forget the air stone and air pump to add oxygen to the water...
