Thanks for the reply and I wouldn't even care if I only got a gram all I want is to prove it can be done..
Since it's all metal/aluminum inside do I have to insulate it?
Btw guys I got 2 strains to choose from that I have
Oil fem
Big bud
It's the 2 and Ittl probably end up being the oil.
Personally, I wouldn't waste a nice seed on something like this. With the same amount of work and cost, you could probably do quite a bit better with just a *slightly* larger setup.
But I can see why you might want to try it, just for bragging rights.
If you just "have to", its definitely the "oil" autoflower. Big bud is probably not suitable for a grow this small.
No, you don't want/need to insulate this. No need.
Your grow will work better if the inside is bright, either using reflective mylar or alternatively bright white paint. I notice the inside of your Xbox is metal, probably aluminum. You might be able to polish it up with Mother's "mag" polish, or some other suitable polish to make it nice and shiny/reflective, then not have to worry about lining it with mylar.
As to other suggestions, I have several.
First of all, with only one 23 Watt bulb, light intensity will be critical, so try and improvise some reflector for the light. Even if its only a cut down coffee can or bent piece of aluminum, you'll do better with one in place. Since you're only illuminating a fraction of one square foot, actually 23 watts may be enough if you use it right.
Next, you've only got about 12" of vertical space, and that includes bulb space (at least 2"), plus you'll have to keep at least 1-2" between the bulb and plant or they'll burn. Now you also have to take into account the POT the plant sits in. So really, you've probably only got about 8" or so space for the plant itself to grow in. That's not much at all.
My suggestion is to use as broad/shallow a pot as you can. For max root volume, you'll want to use ALL of the space on the bottom of the Xbox, so either build your own custom pot, or search around until you find something suitable. Think "shoebox", or something of that general shape.
Next, your box looks like its probably going to leak light like a sieve. That sort of thing tends to give away covert grows. Try blocking off any holes with mylar (or foil, etc) and only leaving one open near the bottom for air to get in. You may need to put baffles around the fans to keep light from leaking out.
I question the need for three fans. You're not ventilating a huge volume, and you don't need to cool CPUs. You might be able to get away with fewer. You also don't need some fans blowing in, and some blowing out. So long as the air blows over the hot bulb to cool it and remove heated air, you should be good. So more likely, all your fans can blow out, and fresh cool air can be drawn in passively from some opening near the bottom.
Next, I don't know how tall the oil plants get, but even though they are autoflowering you'll probably need to bend/train them to fit in that box. You probably won't have enough time to do a SCROG, so instead you'll probably just want to keep tying down the topping plant to keep it from getting too high (so-called "low stress training"). Lower growth on the plant will be worthless, so concentrate on getting max light to the top (maybe multiple small tops), potentially pruning off lower growth that won't get much light.
Lastly, light hours. In theory autoflowering plants can run 24 hours of light and will do best under those circumstances. In your case, depending how that strain likes to grow, you may not want to run the light so much, because your plant will get too tall.
18-6, or even 12-12 might be better just to further stunt growth. Once the plant is late in flowering and has stopped growing in size (or nearly stopped) you can up the light to 24 again for max budding.
