Hey guys ive been lurking around the forum for sometime now and just would like to start getting serious with my stuff so wanted to start a grow journal ;-)

Anyway Im pretty new at growing but read tons before jumping in. I started four strains. All Fem seeds.

Strains:
Pineapple Express: Auto flower
Critical Auto: Auto Flower
Critical Sensi Star: Photo period
Papaya: photo period

Supplies:
4 40 watt daylight florescence
fox farm nutes trio
some okay soil from home depot its organic supposedly but has continues feed so i have flushed them before giving them nutes.
250w hps
General hydroponics: Ph up and down
No ventilation :cuss:I know but I do have box fan and it keeps temps below 80.

Well I know you are saying why start auto and photo together and IDK either lol. But My plans are to keep papaya and critical sensi as mothers possibly.

I started these babies under paper towel soaked towel put in dark area and kept checking to see taproot.

Got taproot then planted in peat pots small. After sprouting I put 4 40 watt daylight fluorescence. I have now put my 250W hps in there as they are getting bigger. They are about 13 days old today. PICS INCLUDED

From left to right it goes : (Critrical Sensi star) top middle is (critical auto) Middle bottom: Papaya: Left side: PE

What do you guys think?

lol yea .. the fist thing that spring to mind .. need new pots soon :D

and yea healthy looking so fare ..

if it was mine .. I would repot em in to some 5 gallon pots next week ..
give em a week more in them in Veg to settle and then begin to switch to flowering/12/12 ..

I turn my light hrs down half a tick each day untill I reach 12/12 to give em as littel stress as possible)

Sweet appreciate the feedback guys. I will replant asap if that is the case. I knew I would have to but when was another story. glad that's clarified. What I was thinking was getting A: either like these big buckets at the dollar store ( only one buck each ) they are like mop buckets but fairly round. I could drill holes.. OR B : get 3 gal grow bags from amazon. NOW I know you said 5 gals but I saw huge plants with 3 gals and I think with 250W it is all really that light can handle. what you guys think?

ps. and pps.

you will need some kind of ventilation with a activ carbon filter on to match .. at some point unless you don't have any neighbors and dont care about smell yourself as they WILL stink pretty bad once in flowering ... safe up .. atlest get a cheep 4" vent and make a DIY filter ..

beside heat control and odour control it will also provide fresh air/co2 for the plants .. witch they will love ..

can get one like this at my local "walmart" for like 70$

show_image_in_imgtag.php.jpg

some tubing's and a filter will probably cost around the same ..

and aboput PH up and down .. don't worry to mouch if your in soil (good organic soil with the right PH (6-7PH)
it will take care of it (the micro life in the soil .. soil contains more then 40K different bacterias per gram .. different !!!)

Ooh yea .. and Welcome to RIU :)

yea go for the grow bags .. plants seems to love em (drain/ventilation for the roots I suppose) and can be wash and reused ..

and if some of your plants is Autos aswell .. 3 gallon will be ok .. and the others can also do with 3 gallon .. tho it will not allow em to reach full potential .. but with 4 plants under a 250W HPS I guess your not planing any +8 weeks Veg anyway ..

flower after 4 weeks in 3 gallon .. is my advice .. I veg 6-7 in 5 gallon with a 600W HPS

Okay I think I can manage that but here it is man. I can get a fan set up to some duct work like such?....http://www.amazon.com/VenTech-Inline-Exhaust-Ventilation-Blower/dp/B005KMOJPK.. I could do this but my question for you is this... Would I then attach filter at end of duct work in the room and run that to a exhaust fan outside of my room correct? so it would go .. Filter in room connected to ducting... air is then sucked out of room with exhaust fan? crap is confusing man lol

yea I think you got it right .. here leme show you:

and yes I believe a ventilation like in the link .. with the filter to match will do the job for you .. I have a 6" for my 600W HPS

and when you don't really have problems with heat you will mostly/only use it for odour control doing flowering and to provide fresh air .. I run mine with out filter (filter take of 20-30% of the sug) in Veg .. once they begin to smell to mouch in flowering I add the filter ..

I runn it 24/7 and only run my normal table fans when lights on ..

I run my ventilation/a tube out side my grow room .. placed up high as heat travels up high ..
and a passiv intake (twise the size 12") low down near the floor/my plants for fresh air ..

tho I also run that tube out side to another room/window .. have the window open on hot days as I do strugles with high tempos with my 600W .. well did .. just build a DIY cool hood

DSC01088.jpgDSC01089.jpg

but still run the tube so I dont just reuse the same old hot air over and over all night (do also run it at night .. from 8-8 in order to keep temps down .. but also since Im home so it suits me better)

p.s.
make sure normal strain plants have COMPLETE darkness at night doing flowering ..

VERY nice man.. Great picture.. I understand completely now how to set it up. As for the hood thats badass. you got any diy tutorial on Carbon filter. LOL I would almost suggest dryer sheets

well Im a smet/metal worker .. so Im surpose to be able to build that kind of stuff :D

did it in 3 lunch breaks + 10 minuts here and ther ;)

so finishing is`t great .. but works perfectly .. glass (I had my doubt as its a shelf from a cabinet tho harden) is running on seccon week now and is still in one pice :D so is the alu tape I used to make it air tight .. and sweetest of all .. is that it did lower my temps from +85F on hot days to 78-82F

if you want to safe on the filter (tho it seems like the link you posted had a nice offer low down on the pages) you can use the activ carbon that Ppl. use for fish tanks or them replacement filters from "Walmart" for cooking ventilators

3984.jpgDSC01014.jpgDSC01015.jpgDSC01010.jpgDSC01011.jpg

cost like 10 bucks or so .. and is full of active carbon .. just make some container to fit the vent with some kind of mesh and fill it with the carbon .. make sure the ventilation can "breath" or make less resistant

sweet!! alright so Im probably going to go with the one on that site as well. With winter coming up wonder how this would work.. right now its about 50 at night and 70ish in the day so temps in room - 68-78 would venting be necessary well I damn thats right not for temp as much as smell in my situation..well okay thats fine.... what soil do you use?

yea .. and dont forget the fresh air/CO2 flow for your plants .. I believe you will see a different ..

I did`t have a filter/vent either to begin with (common nub mistake I guess) some kind soul told me like Im telling you now (thanks to Witch Doctor) and he was right .. even before flowering I could smell my two plants when I got home and open the door .. once in flowering I began to have problems to stay in my apartment not to talk about sleep .. vent/filter clear that in less then two hours ..

I wouldnt like to think about them in full flowering .. Im sure I would have been able to smell em down the corner ..

think about it .. hopefully +2 oz per plants (I got like 3oz on my fist run with a veg time on +7 weeks .. hugh plants .. dont want to do that agin)

and leaves aso. think about how mouch that would smell even in dry form in bags on your table ..

in other words .. you wont regret the 64$ spend ..

about soil .. I mix my own organic now .. a hole sciens if you ask me .. but in general I use a Organic soil from Plagron as my base .. ALL mix .. a mix of organic soil .. peetmoss .. perlit and worm-casing ..

I then add ABOUT 30% coco fibers to make it light .. and different stuff for different stages/pots .. stuff like blood/bone meal .. Kelp meal .. lime .. Bat guano .. Humid acids .. vitamin B aso aso ..

try to keep it simple in the start .. get one that is made for plants like weed (= a PH between 6 and 7) a lot of cheap soils at the center/supermarket is low in PH .. some lower then 6 .. with to mouch peetmoss .. dont go cheap here .. will give you problems all grow .. use dolomite lime to correct it if you have sour soil/low PH ..

get a nice Organic one .. make sure its light and airy .. with stuff like perlit (30%) or lega nuts if permit is short .. coco fibers is also a great medium (I would actually choose to use pure coco with Autos if it was me)

two things to look in to:

Super thrive (google it) expensive but can get a small bottel and go a loooooong way .. a drop or two in your water can 3-4 times doing a grow will ensure you healthy plants (in my experience) of course beside normal nutrients ..

and two.. black strap molasses for flowering .. a ts in your water can (deluded in boiling water fist) every seccon watering will boath provide carbs for the micro soil life and important trace elements for the plants like Mg .. iron aso

Thanks tons bro. I was looking at using pure coco fiber it was pretty cheap all in all. But I dont know if im ready to start messing with a similar step towards hydro kinda want it easy and simple as you stated. Got some new pics of the babies today exactly 24hrs later.. al i can say is I never noticed grow before but now its crazy.. loving it so far.. Im gonna start needing that carbon filter soon so going to look into that pretty soon. get paid tomorrow so going to look at finances.

great start on them man, they look good so far. How far do you have them away from your light? and what size pots are those? 3-5 gallon pots close as you can to the light (1-6in. depending on your airflow...my plants had no problem touching the glass of my 150w hood) Subbed =) gl with the grow man.
