First Grow, 400 HPS, 4 Ak-47 + 2 Mauii Wowie

I am a newbie to growing :) I have a 400 watt HPS on my plants currently. I will soon be getting some CFL's to switch to that for veg or have a veg + flower room. For every plant ill be using The LST Method. The oldest one (a Mauii) is a 5 weeks from seed. She all ready has a distinct basil/skunk smell. My room is a bit hot so i am definitely working on bringing that down. And in a week or so i am getting a 250 CFM fan to hook up to some ducting and being in fresh air. tell me wat ya think. :weed:P1060833.jpgP1060838.jpgP1060831.jpgP1060839.jpgP1060842.jpgP1060828.jpgP1060840.jpgP1060830.jpgP1060834.jpgP1060837.jpgP1060829.jpgP1060835.jpg

I'm not to sure about the watering...I grow in Hydro...I was wondering about vegging the plants in HPS. People keep telling me not to, but your little ones look good. Good luck..see ya

ya ive gotten mixed ideas from people saying hps wasnt as good for veg. seems good to me though. i might be switching to cfl a bit but im definitely using the hps for flower :)

i veg with hps. 600 watters. seems to work fine for me.

not enough water is better than too much. i often don't water until i see my plants start to droop a little. you can lift the pots to check the weight of the soil to see how wet it is. wet soil is heavy. ;)

Thanks fdd, I always value your input.I have a small DWC I wanted to play with ( only 3" pots..lol ) but the extra light I have only has a HPS right now, I'm trying to do this set-up $$ free ,just using shit I already have. I'm gonna get some seeds germ'n and start her up...HPS the whole way for this grow.
see ya...stay stoney
peace

Ya that sounds good the 400 watter seems to be working wonders for me. I wonder how long i should veg the mauii before flowering it. Unfortunately shes already started to put off a basil/skunk smell :( Im looking for a carbon filter but am getting ONA GEL for the time being.

watering is easy mate to many people over think it simply water til you get a good amount of run off and then give it a couple of days you'll see the soil dry out and start to pull away from the edge of the pot slightly this is usually a good indicator that the moisture level is low and i find if you leave them the extra day that is when they start to look droopy and generally under watered, i water before the point they start to look droopy you'll see a pattern emerge as you go for the cycles it's just practice

Ok so just went to check on the plants an give them some water i did as told by many waited for the soil to be dry and droopy leaves. I tied down the oldest mauii again as she had grown in the past two days. Lots of offshoots comin off her should i tie those down also? temp steady at 79 degrees F. The AKS are all bent becaue they were unfortunately knocked over :(

Thanks man :) Ya my buddy got me the AKS and the Mauiis from the local compassion center :) Unfortunately im not sue they are feminized. Soon ill be planting some Purple Shaman an extremely dank an elusive strain :)

Hey so havent updated in a while just been busy :) Saw them and the older mauii is thriving, she was tied down more. Unfortunately some of hre leaves have small holes in them that culd be evident of bugs. :( AKS are doing great except one died after being knocked down .... but its ok i had surplus. Steady at 89 degrees 60% humidity :) Will post some pics
