First Grow - Attic - Coco Coir

The joy of having three generations live under one house, is that you are kinda screwed for space for recreational activities.

I had to make my grow room in my attic. It is on the north facing wall so no direct sunlight. I'm almost a month into my grow and my intention is to link to this journal so that others can help me with my first grow. I created a walled off space in my attic with 2x4s on 16 inch centers, surrounded the grow area with R19 insulation, then R6.5 reflective insulation.

Genetics: Unknown. Should be 11 of the same as they all came from the same bag, but I can't confirm that.
Flower Space: 4x 600 Watt HPS
Grow Medium: Coco Coir
Nutrients: General Organics ("GH") complete line (BioGrow, BioWeed, CaMg+, etc.)
A/C: Dual port 13000 BTU standalone unit
Known Issue: My tap water is very alkaline! Unfortunately I was 2 weeks in before I realized it had major swings of 7.5 to 8.5! I now pH every time, but at the beginning of my journal, I did not.

Goal: Grow these 11 plants, sex them, then produce 40-50 clones for flowering. Repeat.

WEEK 1
Day 0: Planted 12 seeds in 3 inch pots. Watered with plain water (was probably very alkaline, didn't pH); placed dome over germination tray.

Day 3: placed a heating pad under tray. Air temps fluctuated from 16F to 45F.

Day 7: One seed opened, placed white tag in it as reference.

WEEK 2
Day 8: Nine open.

Day 9: 11/12 open; fed plants 1/4 GH seedling schedule (1mL of BioWeed, 1mL of BioGrow, 1mL of CaMg+, 1mL of BioRoot per 1 Gallon water)

Day 10: Raised light to 10 inches over plants (Don't know why I did this?!?!); Turned on fans to circulate air in room, blow on plants, etc. Temp in dome is around 85F, 35% RH.

Day 13: Fed plants 1/4 GH seedling schedule (still wasn't pHing at this point). Removed ungerminated seed, temp and humidity remained good.

WEEK 3
Day 16: Soil still wet/heavy; 11/11 fine, vertical growth seems to have slowed, took off lid, ran fan over plants to strengthen roots, temp good, humidity was high (I suspect from dome being on), color was good, 2nd set of leaves starting (the first ones with the ridges).

Day 17: Fed plants plain water, lowered lights 2", leaves a little lighter, begin to expect issue with water pH.

Day 18: pHed plain water with digital pH meter, 7.8 to 8.5! Major swings! Will need to pH every time! pHed water plus 1/4 feed to 5.6. Flushed plants twice. First runoff was 7.2, second runoff was 6.2. Humidity starting to show low, fast evaporation from fans? All first leaves checked, hole in one. Is there a bug eating them? Maybe stinkbugs. Will keep eye out for them. Do nothing to plants for a couple days and see if this fixes problem. Turned fans off.

Day 20: 2 days since flush, color and growth return.

Day 21: Water 1/4 feed, pH 6.2

WEEK 4
Day 24: Declared war on stink bugs. Need to finish duct taping every seam up.

Day 26: Still more stink bugs. Water only pH 6.5. Turned fans back on. Plants looked droopy.

Day 27: Soil moisture seemed fine, probably water w/ feed tomorrow.

Day 28: Watered 1/4 feed, pH 5.9; lowered lights 1.5"

WEEK 5
Day 29: Lowered light another 1/2 inch. 10/11 plants look fine, one has a burnt spot on one leaf (plant on right of picture)

Day 30: Water only pH 6.0. Lower lights another 1/2 inch. Don't feel any heat from light on back of hand, but the fans are running. Does that affect things?

Day 31: Lowered lights another 1/2 inch. Now about 6 inches off average plant height. Plants look good.

Day 32: Plants were very dry! Watered 1/4 feed pH 5.9. Will need to get air humidity and temperature under control. Plants growing very slow, although color is still pretty good. Are they root bound? Consider transplanting to larger pots.

Day 33: Plants don't look like they have grow at all. Leaves very droopy, but are firm (i.e. they don't bend when I lift them up, they feel firm when pressed). I don't suspect dehydration or nutrient lockout, but am unsure of what it could be. Some night temps have been swinging to mid 40s, still low humidity. Could that be slowing them down? Here are pics of current grow space (ignore black plastic on ground, was going to use that as vapor barrier, but don't need it).

Future flower area. Active Carbon filter to polish air from flower room to veg room. Positive pressure in veg room will feed flower room. Will be getting a CO2 tank soon. Already have regulator.

2 of the 11 plants have a purplish color in the middle, which is why I suspect different genetics.

I'm not too concerned about the first two sets of leaves being a little off color, but should I?

Day 34: Transferred from 3 inch pots to 6 inch pots. Water and fed 1/4 nutrients, pH to 6.0. Roots looked good, adjusted lights and turned on fan to blow over plants. Still having doubts about medium pH... might get a TPS meter to test runoff for ppm.
