First grow ever outdoors

I'm a little late, but not too late I think...I've got 22 mid's seeds germinating in jiffy peat pellets. These are just for selecting a few that look strong I'm gonna practice topping and maybe find a place for them and grow a few out. I bought 5 seeds from attitude...White widow x Bid bud (4) and 1 darkstar. These are going in the holes I dug today...I'm estimating these holes are about 30 gallons which should make for some pretty strong plants. I havn't decided the soil yet. I'm on a tight budget so shipping would kill me I may have to just find some free cow manure ...mix with perlite peat moss and use Scotts or Miracle grow or maybe something more organic from a gardening shop somewhere.

I'm gonna use a gravity drip irrigation system to water them so I don't have to visit much. I was thinking about getting nutrients because my soil won't be very nutritious...not for the duration of the grow atleast. So far I cleared my spot and today I dug my 5 holes...the plant bases should be at least 3 feet from each other...I may add more chicken wire around the perimeter and trim everything coming in. Also I'm looking into setting up trellising net...because I plan on topping/fimming medium/heavy...so if anyone knows some cheap easy ways to set this up I'd appreciate a suggestion. Here's the pic of my garden so far. unfortunately I have nothing sprouted to show you yet. Peace

Cow manure is very weak compared to other manures , try get a mix of chicken and sheep manure40% , perlite 15% , vege compost 15% , and 30% native soil, and most importantly a few handfuls of dolomite lime per hole, Iv grown some great plants with this mix , indoors and outdoors , shouldn't need extra nutrients except top dress with some potash and phosphate at flower time , are you in aus by any chance ? Looks like the soil and plants we have here,

thanks for the advice man. No I'm in the southeast US. That all sounds good except I'm not sure using the native soil will work...it's got a lot of clay mixed in, and the other half has a lot of small roots from the bushes I pulled up. I might be able to get a little mixed in. Ill just have to sift through the clay.

does anyone know at about what age a plant can go outdoors without a heavy rain threatening it too much? The pot's I have I suspect will support them until they are 2 1/2 ft then I'd like to get em outside.

outdoorcrop, sounds like you are on the right track and did your homework. Good growing to ya !
