Not sure if anyone could give me any advice or if I'm posting it in the right thread. This is my first grow, so I wanted something easy so I went with feminised autoflowering seeds. I germinated one seed (yes, i only want it for personal use, just one plant at a time, then plant another when the first one is almost done ya know what I mean?).. anyway I germinated one seed, and I planted it in the pot I want it in for the whole grow & covered it with plastic wrap til it sprouts. Its in my closet, got the walls lined with white paper to reflect light because I couldn't find mylar. Bought a timer for 18/6. My question is about the light (of course lol) I bought a 60w sylvania spot gro light. Will that be okay for the beginning at least? I'm really considering CFL's and I understand the whole 6500K for veg and 2700K for flowering. Im just worried about what I have to START out with. I don't want to screw it up from the beginning. Maybe I already have?

Seems good so far the rule from plants is about 100 watts or more! I have one plant going as well *personal use* I bought a 150 watt hps off eBay for about 65 dollars it's perfect for one plant but does get hot in a enclosed area a fan and a few vents will cure that! If you have any problems or questions don't be shy we are here as a community to help one another! Good luck on your grow

Hey Kristin, in my opinion I would go for a 250w hps, like the other chap said it will get fairly warm/hot so you will.need ventilation in the form of a fan or 2

What strain did you plant? And from what seed bank? What soil are you using and how big is your grow area?

I would suggest bigger CFL, I used two 105 actual watt 2770k CFL's for flowering once. They were $20 a piece on Amazon. 200+ watts of CFL was perfect for flowering, and under $40, just make sure you dont hang them too close over tops, as they get warm enough to burn. you can also keep small 23 watt CFL under the plant to develop thesmaller popcorn buds.

Cfl is the way at this stage of your education, unless you wanna mess with ventilation etc with hps, never be in a hurry with this stuff, avoid plastic wrap unless you know of mildew attacks on young seedlings, go for a large 2x ? CFL's
and a small pc type fan ,...plants gotta breathe too yo!

I wouldn't waste anymore money on CFL's, you might just as well go and buy some candles! They are ok for vegging but you can't beat an HID for flowering. You'll buy CFL's then at the end wish you'd bought a 250w HID lamp, so I'd bite the bullet and buy one now!
