hey everyone this is my first attempt at a grow and i am currently using three clones i got from a dispensry one being pot of gold and the other two being a sativa domint strain called sandman which i dont no much about

anyways im working with a closet not sure on the dimensions yet and am currently vegging the plants under 5 23 watt cfls at 6500k and plan on swithing to all 42 Watts 2700k for the flowering.

will 5 42 watt lights be enough to flower these babies or not i will have pics up soon

Hi Growz, Congrats on your first grow.
Yes 5 42 watt CFLs will flower them. my guess would be you might get about 1/2 oz out of the grow.
Personally I would use a minimum of 300 watts for three small plants, at least get a couple oz's out of the deal.

nice thanks for the help im thinking of trying to order a larger one online or even upgrading to hps just concerned about the heat that i hear it gives off

now im running the cfls on a 16/8 cycle to just save energy is there any serious cons of this lighting cycle i should be concerned about all the clones are about 6-8 inches

I think 18/6 is the best bet. I tried 24/7 and 20/4 and they seem to do better at 18/6


Unless of course they are auto flower then 20/4 is best.

this is the third day for the clones under the lights and am currently having problems with the two sandmans clones with slight yellowing of the leaves on the one and leaves curling and going a brownish color on the leaves i dont think it could be heat stress becuase my lights about two- three inches above my plants could they need nutes or somthing ? bqwerq.jpg

Once clones are about 5 or 6 inches they need more then just the rockwool cube to grow in.
Do you have them in pots now?

You know, I saw them yesterday now that I think about it but they are not there now.
OK, well aside for not being able to see the pics I can tell you that plants take a week or so to get used to new medium. they call it transplant shock. Soon you will see new growth, light green in color, then the lower leaf will stop yellowing. right now your plant is using the stored nutes in the lower leaf to grow roots. totally normal.

i have another question how big of a factor does the size of the room play in the grow because i have three small clones in a deacently sized closet will that hurt the growth of the plants becuase most cfl grows i see are enclosed?

Well-Known Member
Most cfl grows are enclosed because they are hiding it.
You can grow pretty close to a cfl compared to High def lighting.
