First grow (experimental)

Hey all,
Relatively new to this. I've done a lot of research and reading and happened across some bag seed. So I decided to experiment and see what it takes to grow inside. I made a makeshift grow room with 2 storage containers that presently contains 3 bulbs. 1-14w 5000k led bulb and 2-42w 2700k cfls. I did a poor job of keeping track of days to start with, but the lone one that survived is somewhere in its 5th week I believe. I encountered some kind of problems with leaves yellowing on the tips right after transplanting to a bigger pot, but the effects have since improved. It's only about 8 inches tall and has been topped once already. I'm concerned that it may be a little small given comparison photos I've been looking at in various threads. I have a very tight budget so I try to work within its limits. Any and all advice, tips, or general knowledge is appreciated in advance.

usually it will just depend on genetics for 90% of the time others take a bit while some grow insane. usually the first 5 weeks are slow on any genetic but it should pick up soon. just make sure you have a fan and are able to get fresh air to cycle in often and most important is being patient

Probably would benefit from some cal/mag added, but I don't really know what you have going on.

Cool, I'm probably just overly paranoid. I have a 6" fan circulating mounted up top pulling air up from ports in the bottom.

Soil is just plain soil, perlite, and vermiculite mix. No nutes yet. Need to pick up a ph meter as well. Thought about cal/mag but haven't found it locally as of yet. So just plain water til I can afford/ find necessary items.

Try Epsom salts first, about a buck a bag and not gonna hurt anything unless you pour the whole bag on top. HD has 5-5-5 fert for 12-18 a bottle.

Will pick up some epsom salt tomorrow. But on the nutes I was under the impression that high nitrogen was better in the veg stage, and p and k are more benificial in flowering or have I been misinformed?

I mean it can but unbalanced nutes lead to issues later, especially for newer growers. Study/research CEC whenever you are bored. They always need macros, regardless of stage.

Btw for the record I Vg with 5-15-14.

Ok so I picked up some epsom salt yesterday, added it to the water last night. Woke up today, little bushier, yellowing has lessened but I've got a crazy looking leaf that I can't figure out....

Small steps.

Ok as an update, was able to check out a local hydro shop today and picked up some goodies. Got the GH flora trio, GH ph balance kit, fabric pot, and some fox farms soil. Also picked some more cfl bulbs and some Mylar to put inside the walls of the box. I have a question, at 6 weeks can I transplant into the better pot and soil or is it too late?
