First grow in over a decade

So I gave up my budding hobby years ago when I moved in with my now wife. With legalization, I can go for it again as long as I don't make it "look some high school student cobbled it together in a basement corner". Fine, I'll buy a damn tent. Lol.

Last spring, bought some OG Kush seeds at the local head shop. Did an easy soil in pots grow, mainly to get seeds.


Of course, I also hoped for a pound of bud but it was not to be. Had big drops of temperatures in the fall and had to give up bringing them in for the night. The thick buds succumbed to white mold when I tried to finish on the window sill. But luckily, it got pollinated well so I still got this:


Well over a hundred seeds. You did your job, Lady! So I did a couple test grows before I got my shit together*. Details best left unsaid. Spent a few bucks to get equipped. So now I got a SecretJardin tent (3×3×6), 2 Uoiuxc 1000W LED (one in, one reserved for flower), with soil for first round.

Planted some bag seeds for a test run. Doing a basic LST on them. Next run, tomato rings are being used.

They're about 3-4 weeks since popping. My out-of-practice eyes suspect at least two are female. They're in crappy pots, so I think top left is having minor root probs but I'm leaving everything alone for a while.

Meanwhile I planted 8 of my seeds from my outdoor grow, figuring half don't pop, half male.

That's where I'm at presently. My plan is to top the good growers and try to clone the tops. If timing is perfect, those clones will go in with the bag seeds when I switch them to flower. The clones will then give me sex and quality clues for the OG seedlings. I intend to make the best 1-2 plants into Mothers for another couple grows. Have a small cheap 2×2×4 tent I will set up for mom and clones.


This is my first post, so no offence if you mods think it's better in another category. Ruthless and kind comments are both also very welcome.

*the root locked failures showed potential, making me hopeful.

So I screwed up the babies a little. An awkward repotting and left a little too close to the light for a couple days, so they seem a week or so behind. All still kicking though, some better than others.


The bag seed initial run seems to be ticking along. All such different growers/phenos. My babies are no where near big enough for cloning yet so I figure I might take a clone of each of these gals sometime this week then switch them to flower.


So that light pulls a true 104 W and like I said first post, I have another I'll put in when I switch to 12/12. That should be good for this 3×3, correct?

Setting up another tent for the babies today just to tidy up. Wife is getting a little annoyed by the clutter.

Well, hopefully this thread shows you can bumble along and the plants still grow. Only today set up the small tent. Stuffed with babies but I only had resources on hand and room to repot 6 of 8. Should probably dump a couple but I can't bring myself to do it.

And the bag seed switches to 12/12 today. Topfilled everyone and gave the short two a boost to even the canopy some.

Also added the extra 100W LED as planned. Hopefully, I can be better organized by the time I can harvest them and decide how the next generation works. Lol.

Bag tomato rings. Instead learn topping and how to supercrop. Keep going. You’ll do fine

As it happens, the two tomato rings I had in the garage got used to stick in the ground next to my front steps. A skunk has been trying to dig under them all damn winter and this stopped him.

Yeah, I'm going with either topping and/or vertical grow next round. Thanks for the encouragement!

Bag seed rocks most of the time. I’ve never grown hemp from a bag seed. There’s nothing that beats genetics. But for growing, learning. Smoking and eating? Bag seeds. You can’t beat the price.

I was assured the bag seed came from "good stuff" but yeah, just a test run. The babies are all my own seeds bred from Royal Queen's OG Kush.

So I guess a couple of the bagseeds were autos because a week after the flip, it wasn't "hmm, what sex is it?", it was "holy crap, get that male out of there!"

One of the two remaining obviously came from the same bag and is already showing flowering.

Decidedly more stretch compared to its roommate.

Doubt I'll ever go more complicated than coco in a hempy bucket but thanks.

Looking good so far, ill be watching.

If I had known that one bag seed was an auto, woulda done things different so I could give it more light but it was stuck in there with the photoperiod gal, so it is definitely going to be larfy. Pistils already 70% dark.



Buds on the photo are thickening up though.


Babies are chugging along, with one or two getting light burn a while back from some poor placement.

Spring is coming so some or all of them might go outside after taking clones.

The auto is looking darn close.


Another week?

My photo girl got real burnt by the led. Hopefully she's got lots of time to recover.
