First Grow Journal (Third Grow)

Well, I finally have my collective shit together enough to do a grow journal!

We're starting off with two seeds of White Satin and two seeds of Purple #1. Germination began today. I want to keep it at or under three plants, so hoping for three females. If a male or two pop up, I'll be taking them through flower so I can stock up on some pollen.

Set-up:
1 - 400w HPS for flowering
1 - 75w HPS for veg
Custom stealth cabinet that I built shortly after moving into the new home.
-Dimensions for veg shelf: roughly 50"h x 12"w x 29"d.
-Dimensions for flowering side: 80"h x 60"w x 29"d.
MG Organic soil (beginning to gather my nuts to switch over to aeroponics).
Bat guano ferts (I'll have to run out and get specs on that later).
Mylar lining the whole cabinet
Ventilation intakes through the veg chamber, runs down a pipe to the flower chamber (close to floor) and another fan pumps air through exhaust at top of flower chamber into carbon filter.

I'm probably forgetting something, but today's been a little fast paced so feel free to ask questions and make comments...

The taller gal is obviously a sativa. I cut her way down after flowering her the first time, so she's quite a bit bushier than she was the first go around...

The shorter indica has been an absolute pleasure to grow. Took right off. I topped her about a month ago, and began training all of the large branches down toward the sides of the container. Right after topping her, I noticed that she was trying to auto-flower... I'm not sure what breed either of these two gals are, but I'm seriously looking forward to sitting down with this one and listening to some good tunes.

I took a couple of up close pics of the indica to detail out something that I thought of as pretty cool. On the first set of nodes, she split into two branches. I didnt think too much of it (other than it was cool) until after I had topped the plant. After that she started bulking up the two branches, and they've both effectively pumped up close to the size of the main stem.

Again, sorry for the rotated pics... If anyone can give me an idea of how to get them rotated while still being able to upload, you would be deemed as one of my favorite people for 34 hours.

Seeds came from World Wide Marijuana... I saw that everyone was having such awesome success with them, and figured I would take advantage of the opportunity to get some real strains. I'm cheap, so went with lower cost seeds.

Getting the benefits from growing is second to the actual time and care that goes into the plants, so I dont necessarily need top notch seeds to be happy.

As of this morning, all four seeds have cracked. The two purple seeds have both popped up out of the rockwool cubes, and the two white satin seeds should be up and out before the end of the day!

Updated pics as of today. All four seeds are up and running! The first two pics are the White Satin the second two pics are the Purple #1.

My goal here is for my current ladies to finish flowering in roughly eight weeks. In the meantime, these four little ones are going to veg. Goal is for three ladies and one male, so we'll see how that goes! Any males will be moved to another area for flowering. I would like to collect the pollen in case I get the urge to begin breeding.

Anyhow... I know the pics arent much yet, but enjoy and more to come!

gj bud. you say you went with the cheap seeds, but what were they specifically?

They were both some of the cheaper seeds on the site.

So... I left my children for the week in the hands of a good friend.

Sitting in a rental home, right on the ocean in Hilo, Hawaii right this second. Nothing like a nice Thanksgiving getaway.

I hope everyone had a great day, and blaze one up for me. I'm with non-smokers for the week, so we had to leave our "preferential habits" at home til next week. For Hawaii, its well worth it.

hawaii sounds like a nice thanksgiving. my grandma lives there but it has been a while since i visited. would like to soon but a little pricey for me right now. have you done any snorkeling or diving? i bet it is beautiful and good luck growing.

Snorkeling starts today... The last two days we've spent touring the island with our own personal tour guide. My other half's uncle is a professional tour guide on the big island. Yesterday was by far the more amazing of the two days though... We went up to the top of the summit (I dont remember the name of the damn mountain) where all of the observatories are at, and watched the sun set from 14k feet. Absolutely amazing to see something like that. Then we trekked back down a bit to the lodges and spent an hour or so with all of the astronomers and their extremely large telescopes. The whole day was just incredible.

My word of advice though... if you ever have the opportunity to make something like this part of your vacation, dont forget that you're literally going from 80f weather to below freezing within a couple of hours. haha That was a trip.

Back from Hawaii and the ladies (hopefully) are doing great. They weren't taken care of with my own hand, so I'm a little gnarfed about their extended height... We're going to deal with it though!

Below are a few pics: The first and last are the White Satins, of which are looking the best thus far. The middle pic is of the Purple #1's which are looking a bit scrawny compared to the other two, but we have plenty of time time to fatten them babies up.

They've all been repotted into larger containers. When I pulled them out of the smaller pots, there were a ton of roots around the outer edge of the rootball.

Also here are a couple new pics of my little ladies in flowering. Three of them, two from the same bag/strain, and the third is the taller sativa strain that's been reveg'ed.

All three of these gals went into flowering Nov 1st.

How long did they veg?

The smallest plant vegged for 8 weeks. I went on vacation in August, and when I got home three of my four seedlings had been not so well taken care of. So I dropped one more in and this was the result.

The middle height plant vegged for 10 weeks, being the only survivor of my vacation. She was topped and paper-clip trained using holes in the rim of the container.

The tall sativa was vegged for 8 weeks before putting her back into flowering. When I revegged her she spit out all of these "tri-tipped" leaves, which have almost all yellowed and fallen off at this point. While she was doing her thing in veg though, it reminded me of a dog with mange... it just didnt look right at the time. But, low and behold, once back into flowering she started kicking out the standard leaf patterns.
