FIRST GROW LET ME KNOW..in need of some help from ADVANCED growers!

OK.. so this is gonna be my first post of many and im really thriven for some knowledge and tips on if im doing alright.
RIGHT NOW i have just passed the germinating stage and i have planted the seed in (my own mix) of soil about a half inch under soil and water'd throughly. I am using a small wattage (60 watts) and a 1 gallon plant container. I covered the top of the container with plastic and have the lamp about 8 inches from the top. In doing this i am creating my own humidity and warmth in the container...DOES THIS SOUND LIKE A HIT-OR-MISS? ANY TIPS,HELP,IDES,SUGGESTIONS, MUCH APPRECIATED!THANX AND GOOD LUCK FELLOW GROWERS.

i'm a wicked noob too, but i read somewhere that 400 watt is minimum. not sure if i'm right or not but id think 60 watt would be wayyyy too small of a wattage to grow a plant.

This sounds fine to me. I just let them come up in a warm dark space. As soon as they come up i put them under floursecents. You can germinate on a window sill if you want.

Well I don't really know too much bout soil. I run ebb n flow buckets. I also never grown from seed - always use clones. But if you got a question aside from soil and seeds let me know. :leaf:

PS CFL's can yield enough for end users just not for the commercial. If you do it right you can pull 4 zips off a 120 watts of CFL. If you're curious bout that look into Riddleme's thread it's good. I never flowered with CFL's either. But I know what you need to ya know... :peace:

ok, a couple of things to think about:

you will need a lot more light in a week or two (more now wouldn't hurt) - lots of info on this site about how much and what kind of light.

unless you have a feminized seed you should think about starting a second plant to increase your chance of getting a female. you could waste two months with one seed and find out you have a worthless male.

the plastic is a good idea but make sure some air gets to the plant.
