This is my first grow and everything seems to be going well for now the setup I'm using is
4- plants just random bag seeds
2 - 26watt 6500k CFLs
2 - 26watt 2700k CFLs
1 - 80mm computer fan
1 - small closet

my main question is this enough lighting to grow 4 plants? I have been thinking about replacing the 2 2700k with 2 daylight bulbs and any other information or advice yall could give me would be great.

Dude get all 6500k's for veg growth the plants use that light spectrum during this growth period. Switch to the 2700k's in flower!! You definatly are gonna want some more light for 4 plants i'd get like 6 42 watters for the space and ventilation you have and go from there!! Hope this helps

And it looks like your doing good but make sure to stay on top of light placement with CFL's! Try to keep them 1-3 inches away and all times depending on your heat and ventilation. Do you know your temps of your room?

you dont want all 6500k or all 2700k, its best to have a mixture. during veg you want the majority 6500k with a minority of 2700k and the opposite during flowering. i think the number is around 20%

Thanks man, something else is it possible to get the plants too close to CFLs? one of the leaves on one of my plants the tip is yellow was wondering if maybe i burnt it

you dont need to transplant those kinds of pots. just put them in the dirt in your new pots. they will decompose and become part of the dirt.

i wouldnt worry about that yellow yet. its happened to me plenty of times. those leaves die anyway.

i have burnt some leaves on cfls. they got more of a crispy brown...

Thanks, yes I know you don't have to transplant them but when should i move them up to a bigger pot? like when the roots start coming out of the bottom of them?

yeah i over analyzed everything too. itll drive you nuts. one day i decided that everytime i over analyzed just think "if it aint broke dont fix it"

trying to prevent problems only creates them.

i always had a problem over watering them.

i have under watered once. i came home to check on them and the stems were limp and the plants were sagging like a limp dick.

check the faq. they got a bunch of info. they have stuff on under watering.

there are 2 things to pick up as soon as possible. 1) a wireless thermometer (i'd get one with an "outdoor humidity" option) and 2) a moisture meter. both are available at walmart for under $40 (at least here). When my babys (still don't know weather male or female) we in their germ stage, i was watering only once a week. they were planted in 1/2 gallon pots. lately i've had to water every other day, but their almost 11 weeks old now (or to be percise 74 days). The moisture meter will save your babys (or girls if u got fem seeds) in the long run. another rule of thumb, if the pot feels light it's time to water. Get an identical pot and fill with with potting soil so it's about the same height as ur real pot. You might need to pack it down a bit, but it'll give u a more acurate feeling on how "dry" pots feel. on a daily basis feel the pots, if they are getting close to being dry, it's time to water.

Like the guys says you are gonna need more light, lights are not that exspensive and a h.p.s/h.i.d will pay you back after the first grow.I would only use the kind of lighting that you are useing to start plants from seed or clones.I have 2 flouresents in the clone room along with 2 cfl's these give me the heat i need for the plants. The flouresents are cool tubes because i want them has close to the plants has possible. The last thing any grower needs is leggy plants you want the lights has close has you can get them without burning them.If you are gonna continue to use these lights then you may be takeing a risk that is not worth it.
