First grow questions.

Hello. I have a few questions before i make my first grow attempt. I want to try to grow one plant.

1. What size grow box do i need to build/ buy for a single plant?(i have no clue of the strain. its bag seed.)
 
BTW I am new to this, and this forum community. i have found alot of great information here. I have been awake all night reading on here pry 10 hours of reading tonight. I do have another question.

2. How do i subscribe to a thread??(sorry in advance if this is really dumb.)

first off go to the top of the page and where it says thread tools click on that and it will give you the option to subscribe to the thread.

depends on what size of plant and harvest you want.
2.5 foot by 2.5 foot and 6/7 foot tall would be perfect for a big enough tree(use a 10-12 inch pot).
 
As ludacris said it depends on what you want in the end.
You will find people on here growing in everthing from a computer case to a 7' wordrobe.

How tall of a plant would that produce. I would prefer to keep it simple and small i do not need any thing Large. I am just looking for a new hobby along with building computers. I have been into gardening for years but only outdoor veggies. I would like to keep the plant 3' or less.

Computer case... is that hard to convert your self?

again it depends on what height you stop vegging the plant and switch to 12/12 (flowering).
if you vegg untill the plants are 10" tall then expect the maximum height at the end to be 30" and thats playing safe.
expect the plants to grow 2-3 times there height they were when you stop vegging switch to flowering.
 
remember indica strains grow smaller and bushier and sativa strains grow taller and more tree like.
so stick to indicas as they grow faster(flowering time)and dont grow as tall if height is an issue.
i dont see any point in growing a tiny plant in a computer case when it will take just as long to grow yourself a nice big plant with a good yeild.
growing in a p.c case you will be lucky to harvest a 1/4 ounce from 1 plant.
grow a nice sized plant correctly in the same time frame and yeild 3-4 ounce from 1 plant instead.

Ok, With that established as a safe size. What size pot would i need for my plant so to factor the pot. the plant at a 30" max height how much of a buffer zone between the plant and the light and the light and the top of the box is needed. I do not really understand the spacing between the plant and the light. Also I want to do CFL lighting. Can i build my own fixture or is it manditory to buy a hood and all of that.

you need to take the height of the pot into consideration meaning if the pot is 10" tall when filled with soil then the plants stem that protudes from the soil is already going to be 10" from the floor(so if the plant is going to be 20" tall then it will be 30" from the floor in a 10" tall pot).
an 8" or 10" pot is good/fine for a 30" plant.

Well every one. I decided I am going to go with a PC stealth box for my first grow. Now time to gut and manufacture what i need. So i have a few more questions lol. How do i wire the lights and how many cfls would be best for strongest growing in that space or would there be a better lighting option for such a small thing.

Also should i caulk it off some. and steal it for air leakage??? so its only comming in at my fan points?

Also How the to wire the bulbs i will take pictures if wanted Of the case selected and use ms paint to try to draw stuff as needed.

your probably at this point asking the wrong people you should be asking someone who has done a pc stealth box.<<< so hit up some of theses threads and ask the people there or copy a good looking box that someone else has made. Sorry I cant cant give you any help on it but I have never tried a pc grow so I have no idea about how to make one.

Thank you, and i understand this im just trolling here to get help or electrical / soil mixtures/scog/ temps/ lighting/all that stuff
