Hey

Canadian here, prescribed + consuming for a while, just beginning growing. Wanted to do a review of my new set up, it is a work in progress.

Main Hardware:

Lighting:

Veg :
1 x 200w Sunblaster CFL

Flowering:
3 x 600w USHIO Hilux Gro AHIS-600 Opti Red
Ballasts 3 x HydrostarPRO II 600w

Air/Temperature control:
1 x 1100 w heat/ac/dehumidifier
1 pure dehumidifier
1 x high volume air filter for scent
1x CO2 controlled release
2x wallmount oscillating fans

Progress so far:

I'm part way into converting the room. It is in a "minihome" aka modern trailer, so I started off by caulking all the loose joints of walls, ceiling and floors to bring the room to air tight. Next, to avoid dissipating heat into main living areas I insulated walls against the inside of the house with 1 1/2" styrofoam. I built the a/c into the window, sealed around it, then covered the window with curtains and covered/insulated it with styrofoam as well. I've got the A/C/ dehumidifier draining through a drilled hole in the floor of the closet.

Ballasts and timers are mounted on the closet wall, lined up with direct ventilation and easily accessible.

Next step is covering the walls with the nonreflective flat white sheets/roll (blanking on name) and set up an ideal space for growing the plants.

That's where I'm at right now. Trying to figure out how to get maximum output of the lights with that space. I need some empty space at one end for CO2, dehumid, and A/C + units, too much so to fit an 8x8 square of 2 4x8 beds. I'd like to use the beds to hold pots and plumb them into the same drainage as the A/C for ease during pre-harvest flushes. I was considering 2 3x6 beds, but wall to wall is actually about 11'6 not 12' so I'd have to cut them and try to join them as still waterproof? And that doesn't seem too easy. It's still my running plan as of now, having it run 3' deep along one whole wall of the room, blocked/framed up off the floor enough to run drainage. Just wondering if there's an easier way....

Any thoughts of how you might lay this room out? I'm using 7 gallon pots, the A/C unit is ~ 2 x 1.5, dehumidifier can be in closet, and the carbon filter + tank will likely add up to about 3x2. I need to be able to access all plants fairly easily.

I will be setting up a closet for my pure vegetation chamber so don't worry about that part, just the flowering room.

Any input is appreciated! I'm going to create a grow log and keep track of things as they go. Wish me luck :)
