First Grow

This is my first grow and all appears well.Just wondering what anyone else thought about my plants? The biggest one is now 2 weeks old,the other 3 are a week old.The temp. stays at a constant 73 degrees,I only water when they appear to need it(every 4 or 5 days).Im using Miracle-Gro Potting Mix Soil and water every time with a very very small dose of Miracle-Gro Plant Food Fertilizer.I keep the lights on all the time and am running 2 48" cool white florescent bulbs.(Mainly to keep heat down and they give a nice blue spectrum for veg. growth.)The lights are around 2" to 2 1/2" above the plants.Do they look healthy?Any advice would muchly be appreciated.

Miracle Grow is very strong and the salts will accumulate in your soil. The directions indicate once every month for potted plants, no? Do not feed every watering, perhaps once every other week. If you're not going to be transplanting, I'd be very wary of that salt buildup getting into your buds later in the grow, making them taste like crap. You're also feeding way too early. The little roots aren't capable of dealing with MG yet. I feed a half dose at 3 weeks, then go to regular doses every 3rd watering after that. I only use MG during veg, then I transplant out of the soil when I go to flower. From then on, I only use organics like Pure Blend Pro.

Thanx for the advice. This type of feeding food you can use constant even for potted plants,in a very small dose 1/4 teaspoon to 1 gallon water.I have decided to stop using the Fertilizer for now.I too feel they aren't ready for it yet.Plus the soil has enough nutrients in it for now and I'm not planing on transplanting. Will if I need to though. Will changing to regular water clean out any salts built up from my mistake? I also leave the water out 24hrs. to clean out the Chlorine.MG? Any other advice?

Ditto^^^^^^^^...oh and also drop those lights (yes im serious), get the lights about an inch even less if u can, i have mines touching the fluoro tubes they dont burn at all and the internode distance will be much more compact...

You're early enough to just change your regimen. PLEASE change to an organic for flowering! If you make the change, you'll leach out the chemicals gradually enough through your regular watering without having to do anything extra.

Those pots look pretty tiny for a full-sized plant. I'd definitely plan on upsizing.

Change fertilizer to an organic fertilizer. Is that what you are saying? Would using regular water & an organic fertilizer(when old enough)from now on,clear out any chemicals in it during veg. growth? I will give upsizing the pots some definite thought.I mainly was just using what I had around the house.(ice cream buckets) I am open to all ideas and opinions, this is mainly my "get the experience type grow". I take all advice kindly.Thanx.

The plants are looking great!!! They have done great sense I have lowered the light down and stopped using the fertilizer. The stems are good and stong. They look very happy and healthy. I just started working 10 hr. days so I will try and get some new pics up by mid-week or the end of the week.

Im not sure what strain they are.The far left one is 3 1/2" tall, the two in the middle are both 3" tall, and my runt far right is 2 1/4" tall. They look great. Tomorrow I am getting bigger pots, more soil and enlarging my grow space. They have grown so much better with the light closer and Im having to raise it up alittle every day.Could anyone tell me what size pot I should upgrade to? Thanx and Happy Growing All!

One more question.Should I also stop using Miracle Gro Potting Soil Mix when I transplant? And if yes, what would you recommend? Im kind of on a tight budget too.

Well I went out and got some new soil and much bigger pots.I carefully transplanted them and they seem to be ok.Just wanted to put up some new pics..They did suffer a little neut. burn from earlier but the new leaves growing dont appear to be hurt.I think switching to regular water and the transplant helped save them. The new pots are 10" in circumfrence and fairly deep.Let me know what ya think. Later. :joint:
