First Grow

I've been reading round the forums the last while and I think I'm tying myself in knots trying to understand everything. I want to get on and grow something as I've found in the garden that's usually the easier way to get going. Any mistakes along the way can be fixed on the next grow.

Im going to get some Chronic seeds from Serious. Germination isn't an issue as I've done that with some vegetables. I'm going to be doing a soil grow first off with a 600W light. I run into trouble when working out what method to use.

For my first grow, rather than complicate it, I just want to stick to putting the plants in pots with the light above and letting them grow away. The light says it will cover an area of 1.2m X 1.2m. How many plants could I grow this way in that space? I might try supercropping on one of the plants to see how I go.

I'm going to destroy all males bar one whch I'll stick with one female somewhere away from my main grow area. This'll give me seeds to work with should anything go wrong with my plants. I don't want to shell out again and again for seeds.

I'll also take some clones off one of the females for the next grow. Flowering on the Chronic will take a couple of months. What do I do with these clones in the mean? Veg them for 2 months? Or let them grow away and take clones off them when I've harvested my first crop? What light should I use on them for those couple of months?

For my second grow I'll try using SOG/SCROG with the clones when I know a bit more about how the plants react.

A few questions above that you can hopefully answer so I can get on with growing a bit.

i think you should keep things simple since it is your first grow...you will make a mistake or 2, no matter how much you read and educate yourself, whether it be this grow or the following one. i would just try and make a successful first grow, and not worry about a perpetual as it complicates things like crazy...GL
