Alright guys I know his is an age old newby question but this is my first harvest and wanna make sure its right before guessing for myself. I can't tell you exactly how long this has been flowering for but I want to say around 2-2.5 months. There are 4 ladies that I put in flower at the same time but this is the only one that I would say looks ready to harvest. I have a 100x scope that I have used to look at the trichs and have been able to see they are all cloud. Maybe im looking at something wrong or don't know what im looking for but I have seen no amber trichs at all. The hairs have all turned brown and leaves have been dieing but I have been plucking them off as they go. She has been under a 250w hps for about 3 weeks and was under cfls before that. I know that cfls can slow the flower period some and that's why I have been patient not wanted to chop yet. Hopefully someone can tell me if she is ready or not. Like always +rep for good help

It is up to you. If you harvest with all cloudy trichs you are going to get that up beat head high. If you wait until they start to turn amber you will get more of that full body stone (good for pain relief). I usually wait for 1/2 cloudy and 1/2 amber. It is my preference.

also, you shouldn't just go by the trich color.. as for judging when to harvest.

there are other things/variables that you should go by as well.

good luck though.

peace.

Thank you since I smoke for back pain I think I will wait a little longer

The over ways I have read on how to tell are the leaves turning color, as if its fall time, and the hairs turning brown and shrinking back into he swollen pistols. Since both of those are happening but the color tric colors havnt changed I wasn't sure . Thanks for the input

not even close to done

While I would like to say thank you for giving an answer your response is unhelpful for my learning. Its amazing that one person says she is fine to chop but you say she is far from done. Could you maybe explain your reasoning behind your comment? I am wantinto learn but need more info than they are far from done. From the other things I have learned already she shows 2 of the 3 signs of being done which in my opinion would mean she is actually close to done not far from it

not even close to done
Hmm, normally I'm among the ones saying that but this time not sure if I agree, that plant could be darn close.

It's hard to tell with the bigger leaves in the way, but i feel like that bud may be swelling up nice and ripe. I'd still be waiting on a few ambers to show up anyhow...

Thanks wbd. The buds have swollen alot and I have noticed that not much has changed in the last day or two. With the info little tommy gave me I think im going to just wait it out a couple more days to see if I get some amber.

One other question I have is can you keep them under 12/12 for to long? Do they just bud and stay budded or will they die and rebus or something?

You need to break open a small nug and look at the trichs inside the bud as well as outside the bud and sugar leaves. There can be quite a difference between the 2.....as stated you dont want to go by just a single indicator...
