First hempy bucket grow - Day 7 above ground

Hey guys,

This is my first hempy bucket attempt. It's a lowryder #2 in a 1L bucket as I have very limited space. The medium is 100% medium grade perlite. Temperature around 23C - 30C depending on location. approx 28C at plant level. 31% humidity.

The first 5 days I watered once a day with plain tap water (PH around 7.3). How bad is this? I thought the reason to ph adjust the water is for the plant to better be able to absorb the nutrients mixed in the water. But there were no added nutrients. Wouldn't the seedling be able to get the nutrients from the cotyledon leaves regardless of the waters ph level?

anyways.. on day 6 I started feeding 1/4 strength lucas formula (ph adjusted to 6.2 with vinegar)
I did the same thing today (which is day 7)

I'm a little worried because I think she looks really small and her leaves are kind of wilting down a little.. what do you guys think ? I know hempy's have been said to start out slower than soil grows, but should I be worried? after all she is only 7 days old?

Yes you can Hempy in pure perlite.

ph 6.0 would be more ideal and I would go 1/8 strength nute and bring light closer but not were it is hot or drying up top of medium.
It is very tricky till roots hit res.You can oversaturate the perlite making plant wilt. You want to gently water the plant and only moistening the perlite till roots hit res.
p.s. an example of 1/8 strength nute would be an 8 oz cup filled with 7 oz ph adjusted water then 1 oz ph adjusted nute then mix.you get my example?

Good luck mate.;-)

Thanks! so maybe I should wait 48 hours instead of 24 hours and then gently water with ph 6.0 water and then 48 hours later gently feed with 1/8 strength nutes? I'm currently using 4 x 23w cfl.. I think I will remove 1 or 2 of them to lower the temperature a little until I get a stronger fan.. As the temps seem to have maxed out at 90F.. It should survive this right? I'm really paranoid now because I recently fried two soil seedlings under a blackstar 240w led :o

ok i don't know anything about growing in soil so i know less about growing in perlite however perlite is used to giver better aeration and drainage so i would imagine it would be like growing in hydroton pellets it might be your roots dry out to fast with my hydro system i have to have water running all the time so roots don't dry out, and now with 90f it makes me feel your plant might be dried out. and how can you fry a plant with a blackstar led's give off almost no heat. you might have given them nute burn. in any case you should get a fan in there 90f is way to high get it down to 70-80 and also might want to check humidity while you are at it, and keep your ph to 5.8 - 6.0 if you can check ph run off and see where that is .

the blackstar 240w gave more heat than my current 92w cfl And I only fed them water.. probably too close for seedlings... The surface of the perlite feels moist and the reservoir in the bottom is still full.. so the roots most likely haven't reached the reservoir yet .. So my guess is too high temps/too frequent watering.. but I'm just a newbie though

You can't grow in pure pearlite mate!
You can find tons of grows that prove otherwise dude. I'm not trying to be a dick but don't go passing out "facts" unless you actually know what you're talking about concerning said "facts". There's way, way, way, way, way, waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much misinformation and old wives' tales on this site already.
