Hello. My grow room is 5.5 x 5.5 x 6.5 feet. I have an older 1000 watt hps with an air cooled hood. My air cooled hood runs from a hole in my grow box to duct to hydro farm blower to duct to air cooled hood to duct to hole in other side of grow box. I also have a 6 inch exhaust fan and an intake hole in the bottom corner of my box. I have not yet had any kind of test runs because I dont have power to my box yet(my electrician is gonna hook me up early next week). I've seen people using one exhaust fan to both cool the hood and exhaust the room at the same time. I have two fans doing separate jobs. One to exhaust my room and one to cool my light. Would i have lower temps and beter humidity if I have both fans set up as exhaust fans? So the fan i have hooked up to my air cooled hood would have air drawn in from the top of the room the through the hood and then out of the room? Instead of having fresh air from outside the grow box cooling my hood? Doing it with 2 exhaust fans I guess would need two carbon filters attached to both of the fans.
What is the proper way to run a air cooled hood? I've never seen anyone having two exhaust fans in a small grow room. There must be a reason why.

Sorry if my post is hard to understand.
and thanks for the help.

I guess two would take up too much room in a small space.

The proper way for an air cooled hood would be FILTER - > A/C HOOD - > Extractor - > Ducting.

To control humidity you need the exhaust to have a higher rate than the intake.

Good luck!

If you were set on two as you say, then you could have the filter exhaust mounted outside the box, on top maybe.

The reason why is one fan is enough. There's no need to put a carbon filter on air that is ducted from outside the grow room, through the hood, and back outside if you use two fans. You'll still need to filter the air going through the grow room. Generally, it's best to use air from outside the building to cool your light, and exhaust it outside, too. Otherwise, it will really heat up your house. In winter, this can be a good thing. You should check your hood for leaks, you might be surprised how much some of them leak! They say it's better to pull the air than push it, but I don't know the reasoning behind that.

It's not possible to have more exhaust than intake.
