First Legit Indoor Grow Log

Hello fellow ganja freaks,

This is going to be my fist legit Indoor grow. I've grown outdoors lots of times but indoors only once and it was a very old school, hand built system in a country that still face daily power surges and has no hydro stores.

So after hunting for seeds this past year, I got myself a nice collection from some of the top U.S breeders.



These are the ones that got picked for the first round:

-High School Sweetheart from Gage Green Group (Cherry Pie Kush x Grateful Breath) (regs)

-Watermelon Gelato from Lit Farms (Watermelon Zkittles x Gelato 45) (regs)

-Gorilla Dosha V2 from In House Genetics (GG#4 x Dolato) (fems)

-Apple Sherbet from Cannarado (Apple Juice x Sunset Sherbet) (fems)



I will be using the whole Canna nutrient line, including the Canna Terra Professional soil mix (it's actually some peat moss with perlite, another rock mineral and some nutrients; not really soil).

They will be grown in 4x4 tents under some Spyder X Plus LED's from Fluence Bioengineering.

Germination was done today (05/24/2018 )

Dolomitic Lime is the rock mineral that I mentioned being in the Canna Terra Professional. So it's already in the mix.

those are gonna be some sweet frosty buds man. I like your strains, definitely got an eye for greatness lol!

So quick Update;

I used the paper towel method for germination after leaving them in drinking water for 24h. Most of them germinated (90%), a few barely started germinating and then rotted (2 out of 12 HSS).

So the ones that germinated fast (most of them) got into the pots. Now this is where i fucked up a bit; I had prepared the pots with the Canna Terra substrate for the exact number of seeds. Yet the ones that lagged a bit behind, I decided to put them in the pots the second day. Leaving the pots sitting in my living room table overnight...

I planted the rest of the seeds that were lagging in these pots (the majority was planted the day before). After a few days I noticed that the ones planted the second day were having a really bad time growing.

After taking a closer look at the seed popping out of the soil, I was able to notice something microscopic that was wiggling. This caused me a mini heart attack and thought the soil substrate was contaminated with fungus gnats. Anyways I got the microscope to check out what was happening and as I had thought, they were fungus gnats larvae feeding on my poor seedlings

A third of those planted the second day didn't make it through because of the gnats' larvae. After some thinking, I concluded that this happened because I left the pots out for a day; some fungus gnats in the house, smelling the fresh moist substrate, came and laid a few eggs in them.

Anyways I decided to make sure to let the soil dry out before watering the plants again (easy control against fungus gnats); I went to the grow shop and asked what he had for fungus gnats larvae and he gave me some BT (Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki) which is effective for caterpillars. Yet after doing a small research online, I learned that the one effective for fungus gnats larvae was a different variety which was called BT-i (Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis). So I decided not to use it and stick to letting the medium dry well. Another thing I did was get some diatomaceous earth to sprinkle it under the pots as a preventive measure. I also added some yellow sticky traps in my house and in the tent to monitor pests.

Here are a few Snaps from a video I took of the larvae feeding on my seeds.

So other than the fungus gnats Issue, I had a small issue trying to figure out the optimum position of my grow light; at first it was a bit too far (as I was scared to burn them), which caused them to stretch a bit and later on it was a bit too close which caused the edges of the leaves to curl upwards. After trial and error and reading the recommended distance the light manufacturer gave, I found the sweet spot. ( btw at the moment they are under the Spectrum king Mother's lil helper 140W, not the Spyderx Plus)



So first watering was using regular drinking water (I was still scared to use the RO water and nutrients).

Second watering they received some RO water + Canna Rhizotonic + Ca (mono) + Mg (mono) (total EC reaching 0.45) (and pH'd from apprx 10.0 to 6.0 using GH pH down)

The babies seem to be doing good now. The ones that survived the larvaes, they show some lag behind but they are still surviving.

So here are a few pics you can see the dates on the file name. I also got a few mutants ( I always like them mutants; during my last grow my best plant was a Citrus Sap freak)

In the most recent pic, the ones drooping on the upper left hand side just received water and didn't have time to stand up straight again (also they are the ones that were planted a few days later explaining why they are a bit smaller than the rest)

Guys I feel I am really bad at writing and organisation. So if my posts are too long or need some editing let me know for next time, I'll try to do my best.

So this has been a very confusing grow. Whoever has some advice to share, I would greatly appreciate it.

I am currently at day 46 and I am still not sure if I have burnt my plants, they are deficient or have caused a lockout. But what I know for sure is that this grow is far from perfect. I will attach a few picture of the plants so you can check them out. Last watering was with canna flores reaching an ec of 1.4 and starting with RO water with added Ca and Mg that had an ec of (0.4) 0.2 of Ca 0.2 of Mg.

The watering before that was pure RO water ph'd to 6.2. During that watering, I flushed the plants a bit as I felt they had some excess salts built up in the bottom of the pots. Most of my watering, no water was exiting the bottom of the pots. They usually say that you should let 20-30% to come out as runoff so that no nutrient build up in the bottom. Moreover, the guy from the grow shop told me that I should feed two times yes an one time plain water or feed once water once. But I wasn't doing that until half of the flowering cycle when I started seeing signs of burn.

Also the guy at the hydro store told me that I should be watering them with 1-2 liters of water and I think I have been giving them almost 5l every watering (4days apprx). They are in 11l/3gal smart pots.

Yet I am still not sure how to differentiate a burn from a deficiency, but I am leaning on the burn side. Specially that an excess of one or two element can cause a deficiency in another.

I am thinking of giving them water until the end since i am two weeks from day 60.

What are your thoughts?

Should I give pure RO water or RO water + Ca and Mg.

Looks nute burned as fuck.

Learned so much since the first grow. I am at my third now. Apple Sherb (3 out of 4 were hermies), high school sweetheart kept 1 pheno, gorilla dosha kept 2 phenos and watermelon kept 1 pheno.

I popped some new seeds, fruit paradise from inhouse (forbiden fruit x dolato). I really liked their quality and consistency with the gorilla dosha. A friend tried a seed last year of the fruit paradise. I had given him one for his outdoor grow and it turned out booomb. Terpy as fuck, looks and yield on point too.

Will try to update more often. Now that I am sober (I quit smoking a month ago)

Those are a few pics from this grow (all gorilla dosha) diff phenos day 36 of flower.

I slightly burned them during veg so stopped feeding them during that time which caused some nitrogen deficiency during flowering.
