First Proper Closet Grow Setup

This would be a personal grow, for medical reasons, although not legal...
For this reason the strains to be grown will be mostly Indica.

#1 So I'd have the choice between 2- 2x2x7 tents or 1- 2x4x7 (thinking I could have 1-veg and clone and the other flower seems the most advantageous to me...

#2 How many plants could I grow?

#3 Would a 400w hps be too much in a 2x2? and a 600w hps too much for a 2x4?

#4 How much could I realistically(minimum) hope to harvest?

#1 From what I understand you are asking what would be best I would say the 2x4x7 more room the better. But if you want to do cycles so that you have numerous crops verses a big one I would do two tents one for veg and one for flower.
#2 This is difficult to answer it really depends on what style setup you would run SOG, SCROG, stc but if you are growing for your personal use you shouldn't need more then 12 I can get more then I can smoke off 12.
#3 a 400 in the 2x2 isnt too much you can get good results off that and a 600 for the 2x4 will produce you solid results
#4 this question is difficult to answer because you have so many factors that play into your final result. The strain you use, the environment & conditions all play huge roll in the final result. But like i said if you are growing for personal use then you should be able to produce enough.

I'd use a 2x2 for a mom with a 250w MH over it and a clone box in there with fluoros. Then id use the other 2x2 with a 400w HPS for flowering right from clone. You could probably get 2 moms and a clone box to fit atleast a dozen in that 2x2 and I could see the flowering 2x2 fitting 16 at the most at 4 plant/sq ft. single cola sog.

I'd figure a 16 plant sog would give you atleast 4oz every 2 months.

i would run a box at least twice the size of my vegg box for flowering. u will find that u run out of room fast especially if u r trying for a perpetual grow someday.
no 2 depends on the size and strain and its genetics and how u r planning on growing them.
i would just use cfls for the 2x2 box in all honesty. its just my prefference now since i have a 2x2 box. 400watts will be way to much and too hot for a 2x2 space. maybe a 250watt would be better.400 watt is perfect for the 2x4 tent.
and number 4 is hard to answer cuz u may just screw it up. lol. we have all done it. plus it honestly depends on how big u plan on growing them. i grew two mercury ogs that vegges for 8 weeks and once i threw them into flower stretched so much that now im hoping for a pound between the two once they are done.

it all depends on strain equipementy and growing experience.

Start from seed in a 4x4 closet... Less boxes no Need for mothering unless your planning on running a sog 1big plant in a 4x4 box is plenty for personal use. Lst or Scrogg is sugested for 1 plant to increase yield.

in my opinion id get 2 tents, keep a mother in one of them (under an led if you wana save money in electric, but it has to be a good one, theres alot of shit out there) and take 1 clone a week and move it to the flower room, this way wen it comes to harvest, you only harvest 1 plant per week but have an endless supply of flowering plants. in a 2x2 x4 tent though i9 wouldnt have more than 4, maybe 6 going at a time and youll have to control the bushiness to keep em from getting crowded but id use a 350 or 400 watt light in the flower (if your fancy you can get a dimable ballast so you can expirement with what works the best versus heat output you can deal with) if putting 6 plants in such a small space though, i would not top them or anything, let um grow straight up but literally flower them when there 10 inches tall, this way youll free up some space

check that, with only room for 6 plants id flower a clone every 2-3 weeks and you'll never run dry

I run a 2x4 tent made by lighthouse hydro it was one of the only companies I could find good quality 2x4 tents from. I have a 600 hps cool tube with an adjustable ballast. It is a totally doable option as long as you can combat temps but that comes with any setup.

I'm aiming for a around 1.5oz every month as an average...
I'm just wondering if a 2x4 would be sufficient for my needs...as this would be my second grow (first one got almost killed by spider mites...never growing in a basement again)
I don't have much experience yet...
I'm also thinking it will be easier with 2 tents rather then starting from seeds every time...am I right?

ya your right, its always better to have a seperate veg and flower room. This way you can generally cut about 4-6 weeks out af a normal grow cycle and stagger your flowering plants so that they ripen intermitenly for a perpetual harvest

And if I would run 2- 2x2 grow tent, could I run both tents' ventilation inline with a carbon filter or would a separate ventilation per grow room be required? Let's say I'd be running a 400w hps and a 250w mh. I was thinking a 6" 200-275cfm fan or 2 if required...

Yes one carbon filter can be used for both setups majority of your smell pollution comes during flowering. And a 6 inch inline fan should be sufficient to vent your lights. But how are you running your exhaust? Are you pulling air from inside the tent through your hood then exhaust or will you have the lights on their own circuit separate from the grow environment? IE out side intake run through your hoods then exhaust outside.

Sounds like this is gonna be a good grow for you man Happy growing

P.S. get yourself a good quality 6 inch inline fan and a electrical rheostat so that you can turn it down that way if you ever go more you can use the same fan or if it isnt cooling enough you can turn the speed up. My CAP inline 6 inch fan is rated at 435CFM but with my rheostat i only run it at about 45-50% power. Just a thought so you dont buy something that wont do the job right

I'm thinking about space...can I really expect to fit a mom with clones in a 2x2?
The best thing would be for me to have 2 moms...
I'd be starting Violator Kush, Cheese and Romulan
I'm undecided between the Romulan and Violator Kush, any help?

Yeah I would recommend using plugs and a procreation tray you can fit up to 50 clones in there 25 comfortably and that leaves you room for moms. and when they root just transplant them to plastic solo cups so you can veg them out a bit using solo cups are cheap and saves on space. As far as strain choice cant say that I have come across those particular strains but try them and let us know what you think!

Anyone else could give me their take on whether 2- 2x2 or a 2x4?
Also given that I'd go with 2- 2x2's I would probably do 12 plants or less so would 2 mothers and 12 clones max at a time, would I be pushing it?
