First real grow.

Where to start.....

Okay I have grown a few plants but still have a lot to learn. To this point I have been growing in 15 gal smartpots in straight coco and hand watering. My grow tent is small only 2'x4'. I started with a 400w hid lighting system and have been using a 175cfm inline fan w/ a cool tube. I am using Dyna-Gro products and like the ease of use and lack of smell as well as the fact that it does not attract flies. My yields with that set up have been averaging about 2-3 zips depending on the strain. My buds have been tastey and quite stoney but I want to yield more. I feel like I can do better.

This week I am upgrading. I getting ready to start a new grow of some lovely little White Widow clones that I have been nurturing and they are just about ready for the tent.
The first upgrade is the light. I found a great deal on a 1kw system, and will be adding a 435cfm inline fan for cooling. I also found an interesting product I am going to try for watering sold by GrowAce com. http://growace.com/product_info/my-lazy-gardener-container-garden.html. With limited space and a low cost I figure what the hell, it's worth a try. Again I will be using 15gal smartpots filled with coco and feeding only Dyna-Gro products from start to finish.

I would appreciate it if you kind folks would follow my grow and provide pointers as I go along. There is just so much to learn that my mind is constantly racing looking for ideas and answers.

I will post photos of my progress from start to finish. Everyone wants pictures.

Thanks in advance for any and all help that is provided.

My packages arrived today. So here is what I started with today. Then the fan and filter installed.

20130221_112633.jpgThe the fan and filter installed.

20130221_104104.jpg20130221_112630.jpgFollowed by the light and hood.

20130221_122104.jpgThen the ducting and power.

I moved my babies in to adjust the height of the light. Many say to use a measured distance but I have always just put my hand under the light at the height of the tallest plant under the light and when I can leave it there for a length of time and my hand only gets a little warm then it is close enough.

So this evening I am off to my favorite hydro shop for a few bags of coco, perlite, smart pots, and trays. It is time to transplant my babies. I will give them a couple of weeks under the new light with nothing but ph'd water as they adjust to the more intense lighting and increased ventilation.
