First serious indoor grow, organic

First serious indoor grow, started 1 Paradise Seeds Whiteberry, 1 Greenhouse Seeds Himalaya Gold, and 1 G13 Labs Power skunk on 11/13/08, they sprouted on 11/16/08. Started 1 Big Buddah Blue Cheese, a 2nd Himalaya Gold, and a 2nd Power Skunk on 11/18/08, those sprouted on the 22nd. I tossed 2 random bag seeds in on the 24th. I'm using plain organic soil mixed with Bio Terra plus, perlite, vermiculite, worm castings, bat guano, and chicken manure. The 2 Power skunks are in straight Bio Terra. I'm fertilizing with BioCanna BioVega, Rhizotonic, and BMO Super Plant Tonic so far. I'm a bit concerned about the baby leaves turning yellow on the Power Skunk and Himalaya Gold, and the brown spots on my Blue Cheese...anyone know the cause? Cure? I've also got some sort of gnats in the soil, I've killed at least 30 with apple cider and have squished at least as many, but it's taking forever to get rid of all of them. Whiteberry seedling pic is first, followed by Himalaya Gold seedling, and Powerskunk seedling

...and currently...Whiteberry, Himalaya Gold, Blue Cheese, Power Skunk, and Brad Seed (bag seed). Had some lighting issues, (2 dead ballasts, 2 bad lamps) but currently running a 400w MH with no problems.

lookin nice man. transplant them into seperate pots though
Thanks, the bottom leaves are a bit yellow, (pushing ferts too hard) but they seem ok otherwise. The Power Skunk are the only 2 in the same pot, (a 5 gal.) They aren't feminized so I'm not sure they'll both be staying...I've gotten rid of most of the bugs with a small dish of apple cider...they get nice and stuck in it, but I'm worried there may be another cycle of them.

Here are the newest pics from today...Whiteberry, Power skunk, Blue Cheese, Brad Seed, (bag seed), Unknown, (bag seed) and Himalaya Gold.

Some of the plants are getting close to 1' tall...one of the Power Skunks is over 1' tall already. Himalaya Gold are the smallest, which was surprising since they were the largest seedlings. More nute burn showing...Does anyone recognize the "Unknown" bag seed? It has a very unique leaf pattern that stands out from all of the other strains I'm growing...anyone?

For your enjoyment...(from left to right) Power Skunk, Whiteberry, Unknown, Unknown, Himalaya Gold, Blue Cheese

Power Skunk on the right is a month old today, as is Blue Cheese, and the Himalaya Gold on the right. Whiteberry is about a month 1/4 in. Unknown bag seed is a little less than a month old.

Any advice on when to start flowering? I'm pretty much waiting for the Unknown bag seed to get big enough since it was planted last...

Ok, I've decided to start flowering now, (wish I had some feedback here) since one of the Power Skunk is 16" tall, (the biggest plant) and I don't have more than 4 1/2" headroom with the light and all. One of the Unknown (bagseed) plants is still only 7", but the other is up to 13", I think they are the same strain since they both have the same strange leaf pattern, so the difference in height could probably be blamed on location under the light. I gave all of the plants their last dose of veg nutes today, (Biovega, Rhizotonic, Cannazym, and BMO Super tonic). Not sure what I'm using to flower yet, I have BMO Flower Power, but that's it. The BioCanna flowering stuff is waaay beyond my budget ($105) so I'm looking for other things. When should I switch the bulb over to HPS? Can it be done during the day in the middle of the light cycle or at night when the light is out?

Last pics before going into flowering...from left to right: G13 Labs Powerskunks, Paraside Seeds Whiteberry, Unknown (bag seed), 2nd Unknown (bag seed), Greenhouse Seeds Himalaya Gold, 2nd Himalaya Gold, Big Buddah Blue Cheese

Nice grow man, plants look great. I am only on my second grow so not too experienced, but I would say that you could go ahead and switch them to 12/12. I don't think the difference in height will be much of a problem you may have to train the taller ones since you have limited space. Im not 100% sure about when to change the lights but I had them on 24/0 for veg and then I just turned them off put the 2700k lights in and started the timer on 12/12. I guess what your asking is if you should have a dark period before their introduced into the 2700k or if the 2700k should be turned on right away and a dark period 12 hours later...not too sure about that but its a good question...Im going to post it in the Cfl forum if you don't mind...good luck -ITB

BTW I just started some power skunk and blue cheese a few weeks ago, check it out... https://www.rollitup.org/cfl-growing/143065-my-second-grow-blue-cheese.html

I just switched it during their light yesterday, they lost 15 mins so I think they'll be fine...started dropping the timer down to 12/12 over the next few days. I am curious about whether or not a dark period between MH to HPS is a good idea though...so post away

I think the Unknown (bag seed) plants are already showing signs of flowering, they both have little clear/white whisps growing on them. Pics from today...from left to right: Powerskunks, Whiteberry, Unknown, (bag seed) 2nd smaller Unknown, (bag seed) Himalaya Gold, 2nd Himalaya Gold, and Blue Cheese. Tallest plant right now is the first Powerskunk at 19", and 17", One of the Unknown is 17", smallest plants are 10" tall (both Himalaya Gold, and one of the Unknown). Blue Cheese is 15", as is Whiteberry. They've been on 12/12 for a day and 1/2...sorry about the yellowish tint in the pics, but it will be the norm from now on since it's from the HPS light.

More white whisps on the Unknown plants today, I'm hoping both are female.

I think I've already decided what to try in my next grow...I'm definitely growing Whiteberry and Blue Cheese again, those plants are just looking ridiculous, and I was going to try the Greenhouse seeds Indica mix H w/White Rhino, Trainwreck, Lemon Skunk, Great White Shark, and Cheese. Has anyone tried these yet?

Built a clone box and took clones today, 2 from each Unknown plant, 2 from the Whiteberry, and 2 Blue Cheese, all bottom branches. Have them under a 4' 54w flor. light. in peat starter pots for the next grow...hopefully they'll root and still be able to fit in there in 5-6 weeks...

Thanks, the Blue Cheese is a bit droopy at the top for some reason, and the Power Skunks don't look very happy at the moment, getting some yellow on the bottom leaves and some brittle leaves on top. Currently all plants are getting Bio Canna Cannazym, BMO Super Plant Tonic, and BMO Flower Power. Pics today - G13 labs Powerskunks, Paradise Seeds Whiteberry, close up of Whiteberry, Unknown (bag seed), close up of Unknown, Greenhouse Seeds Himalaya Gold, and Big Buddah Blue Cheese. The Unknown has been showing signs of flowering for over a week, both are obviously female, (lucked out there) and they have definite buds on them, how will I know when to harvest?

Measurements today: PS1 - 27 1/2", PS2 - 24 1/2", WB - 23", UK1 - 24 1/2", UK2 - 21 1/2", HG1 - 14", HG2 - 14", BC - 20 1/2".

Might be a nute prob with the Power Skunk. I say that b/c the yellow on the lower is classic sign. Could be something else too.

You need a manify glass to look at the triches. At least 10x, but pref 30x+ . they start clear , then milky, then amber. Harvest when mostly milky, get cerebral hight. When mostly amber, get couch-lock high. Many....most ppl mix it up to their liking. Watch the pistils turn from white to red or brown or darker than in the biginning also. That's another sign of maturity.

They're all looking good though!! +rep
